Banu Unuvar is a Turkish artist with an unusual background. She started to sing in a Jazz band at Galatasaray Lisesi( High- School, Istanbul). She went to Strasbourg to Louis Pasteur University where she studied Economics and took music lessons when she had money. She loved Jazz, but she didn't imagine to have a music carrier untill she went to Boston. She did an MA in Economics at Boston University while discovering Berklee College of Music.She decided to go to Berklee with the financial help of her brother ARU. While in Berklee she made concerts in Boston area with a jazz band she founded. This jazz band was also sponsored by Berklee to go for a one week tour in Istanbul, play jazz clubs and live TV shows. While finishing Berklee Banu met Lorenzo Peris, a very talented musician/producer who agreed to produce her first record. They finished their first record Uzgunum Beyler and tried to get a record deal for 2 years. The record was credited by Arif Mardin ( the late legendary producer of Atlantic Records) as a very well produced quality production. Banu has finished her new maxi-single and Kucuk ask katili is the first video of the maxi-single . She wrote the lyrics and the music for Kucuk ask katili and the arrangement is by Erdem Kinay. Her first video is in Motion Graphics and it is produced by Paternika. The video ranked number 6 at MTV EUROPE WORLD CHART EXPRESS for two weeks. Banu is still looking for total honesty in her writing and singing without being afraid of the market rules , she believes that good music is free from any standards, it sets it's own standards. Banu is an independent artist and she is doing all her productions.
