I work out at Powerhouse Gym in Pelham!
The slide show below shows my some pictures from my 1st and 2nd ever figure shows. You can see the transformation in my body from 2004 Heart of Dixie (very skinny!) to the current 2006 North American show. That's a lot of work baby! I have added some other fun slides inbetween.
What some of you don't know is that I had a severe herniated disc in my neck (C5/C6) in November 2005 (right after my Alabama State show). It was so bad that the left side of my upper body was almost completely paralized. After consulted many physicians, I realized surgery was the only option. I had Anterior Discetomy and Fusion in December 2005. I was told I could not work out for 3 to 6 months depending on my response to recovery. I can't tell you how depressed I got. But I never gave up hope that I would work out and compete again!
After three months of rehab, I went back to the gym and started weights slowly. My trainer designed a program that would take the pressure off of my neck. In July 2006, my trainer and I agreed that I was ready to try my 1st ever National show. We decided on the North American b/c it gave me time to diet and get ready for the show. The show was in September and I did very well!
The reason I mention this is b/c I know there are some out there that are going through the same set backs. Please don't give up your dreams. It may take some time, but you will find a way if you have the will. I looked at others in my gym as an inspiration! So many people have wondeful stories to tell. I feel lucky and blessed that mine was JUST a herniated disc.
By the way, when I got my MRI that discovered my neck problem, I did find out I have two more herniated discs in my lower back. I am managing these with exercise!

I love all kinds of music! My favorites are Hip/Hop and Alternative/Heavy b/c it is high energy and great music to have on your IPOD while working out or doing cardio! When the mood strikes me, I like a little R&B and Country.
I love going to the movies! Some of my all time favorites are Gladiator, Tombstone, When Harry Met Sally, Old School, Wedding Crashers, all 3 X-men, Matrix, Scarface, Napoleon Dynamite, Rudy, 40 Year Old Virgin, All 3 Lord if the Rings, Blade I,Blade Trinity, Dodgeball and Bridgette Jones' Diary. I also love anything with Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell and Chevy Chase! They make me laugh my ass off!
I am a sucker for reality T.V. I hate to admit it! I don't have time to watch T.V. that much. Thank goodness for TIVO. I am usually curled up on the couch late at night watching one of the following: Nip/Tuck, Grey's Anatomy, LOST, Survivor, American Idol (only got into it this past season with Chris Daughtry-he rocks!), and Boston Legal. I love "King of Queens" too. It it scary how similar it is to my life (my hubby works for a very well known huge global delivery company!).
