This three-piece powerhouse is the brainchild of guitar protégé Bryan Steeksma, lead guitars and front man. Rounding out the group is Trevor Watson, bass and back up vocals, and Malcolm Holt, drums. The Heck, nursed on the music of their parents generation have taken the best from the masters and fine tuned it into their unique brand of hook driven, post punk with a retro rock edge. Bringing a new fury to the staleness of the current scene. This threesome has masses asking the question why youth is wasted on the young? With an average age of nineteen, these three players have been innately living with their instruments for over half their natural born lives.
Ax wielding front man Bryan Steeksma has had a long-lived love affair with the guitar. At five Bryan was performing for crowds of 600+ people, by 12 he was playing drums, guitar, and bass in senior jazz bands and by 15 was busy jamming with legendary blues cats ala Robbie King at the renowned Yale Hotel in Vancouver. Inspired by guitar greats Jimi Hendrix and Joe Satriani Bryans natural talent for the strings and work ethic grew to be his best advocate. Bryan burns the fret board with a caliber of guitar work unheard since Eddie Van Halens glory days; writing songs with maturity far beyond his years while delivering a prolific stage show with the rare combination of raw force and musical precision. Dishartened by todays modern music trends, Bryan knew that he had to be a part of something more then just jam sessions and self-propelled practices. He knew he had to start The Heck.
The latest addition to The Hecks already stellar lineup is that of bassist Trevor Watson. This self taught road warrior has toured extensivly as a guitarist in a previous band. Trevor brings an dangerous and explosive element to the live show, along with extremely solid vocals, and a tinacious approch to the bass brings The Heck over the top.
Since their sound has evolved at such a rapid pace they are back in the studio recording their new album. Watch out for The Heck, on tour, on shelves and dominating your radio and TVs in 2006.
