Sounds Like:
Zevious is an NYC based prog-jazz guitar trio with long time friend and collaborator Mike Eber, and his cousin Jeff Eber (also with Dysrhythmia). This group just released its first full length album. Click on the image link below to purchase it online at CD Baby
Altamira features fellow ex-Pads & Steel member Ricardo Lagomasino (also with Joe Lally, Capillary Action) and Nick Millevoi (also with Circles, Chakra Khan), both from Philadelphia. The band sounds like tech metal being molested by Ornette Coleman. After having toured the north mid-west US and Canada, Altamira will begin work on an album in March ’08 to support a summer tour.
"...We hit Wavelength 395 in time to catch the tail end of Philly free jazz unit Altamira, a trio who don’t fit comfortably into the jazz club or indie rock scene. Too heavy and distorted for the beret-and-cigarette-holder set and too skilled (check guitarist Nick Millevoi’s two-handed guitar hammer-ons) to impress jaded indie kids, Altamira are odd ducks on most bills, which is probably how they like it."-- NOW Magazine
VIDEO FOOTAGE COMING SOON!!
Pads & Steel was a Philadelphia based "blast-beat jazz" project featuring David Fishkin on electric, amplified saxophone, Ricardo Lagomasino on drums, and myself on electric (and occasionally upright) bass. The group split up due to personal differences after terrorizing audiences in 2007. An EP was posthumously released in 2008.
