Check out Dave's new Music Video, "Bone Dry""My earliest musical memory took place in church when I was three to four years old. I was near the front with my parents and brothers, so I got a real close look and was able to hear the performer over the rustling of the audience. It was at that moment I knew "singing and performing" was what I wanted to do for a living." - That quote sums up what Dave Wilbert is all about!
From the time he was in elementary school, Dave has drawn attention to his talents by doing just what he wanted to do - sing and perform. He performed in high school with the Show Choir and Concert Choir groups. He performed in three musicals during high school, which provided him with the opportunity to hone his talents before a live audience. He graduated high school in 1991 and entered college that fall. Not long after that he encountered three other musicians who also wanted to form a band and make music their way. They practiced, practiced, and then practiced some more before going on the road and playing weekend gigs as a band called 'Mr. Cowboy". They played top forty country and the all time classics. They played all over Indiana in every Honky Tonk, Parade, Festival, and county fair that would let them play. They had a fan club. They sold out numerous re-orders of T-shirts and pictures at their performances.
They began to get noticed by promoters and opened for major acts including David Lee Murphey, Steve Wariner, Lonestar, Kenny Chesney, The Dixie Chicks, and Mark Chestnutt. One night, after winning a contest, Dave was approached by a very successful songwriter from Nashville. He encouraged Dave to come to Nashville to "check things out." He did and immediately realized that music is what and who he was and that he needed to be Nashville to follow his passion. With 'Mr. Cowboy', Dave and the band had been successful beyond their dreams. It was time for the next step. The other members of the band chose to stay home in Indiana. Dave had a dream to pursue.
Dave graduated college in 1995 and moved to Nashville on July 1, 1996. He has been a solo performer ever since. In Dave's own words 'I was ignorant when I came here'. But with the guidance from a publisher and the same songwriter he met years ago he has blossomed into a talent which cannot be denied.
