WHO ARE WE?
Throughout our high school careers we have attended countless high school football games. Growing up in Texas, football is more of a way of life than a sporting event. So, when Toyota gave us the chance to take our passion for the game on the road, there was really nothing we could say, except, "When do we kickoff?" Over the next few months, we will have the opportunity to experience football the way it was meant to be seen. From the tailgate of a truck, we'll bring you all of the biggest games, hottest plays and America's most outstanding players in high school football. Stay tuned, after all, we might just end up rooting for your team.

THE GUYS
JON RAY
Jon Ray hails from the heart of pigskin country: Dallas, Texas. “You can’t grow up in this corner of the world without loving sports,” says Jon, and he was certainly no exception. As a kid, Jon played baseball in the summer, football in the fall, and soccer in whatever seasons were left over. In high school, he developed a passion for golf and cross-country, and wound up lettering in both sports.
Jon always dreamed of being a Texas Longhorn, so after high school he worked his way to Austin to pursue a degree in business. While waiting for classes to begin, however, Jon followed a whim and earned his real estate brokers’ license. He took to the real estate game like a duck to water, and never looked back.
Jon’s favorite part of the business turned out to be producing marketing videos. For laughs, he occasionally acted in them. One such video caught the eye of a local filmmaker, who cast Jon in a short film. Against all odds, this film walked away with top honors at the Miami Film Festival. And Jon had what he describes as an epiphany:
“As much as I enjoyed real estate and the rush that comes with closing a big sale, I decided I loved the world of film even more. I talked my brother into opening a production company with me, and we’ve been writing, producing and shooting music videos and TV commercials together ever since.”
JJ CASTILLO
J.J. Castillo was born in Harlingen, Texas, where his father, a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, worked as a shrimp boat captain.
Like all residents of the Lone Star state, J.J. loves sports – he played soccer, baseball and football pretty much non-stop from kindergarten through high school – but he loves film and video almost as much. While still in grade school, J.J. saved up money from odd jobs and his allowance and bought himself a video camera. In high school, he and his friends used that camera to produce their own comedy/variety series for public access TV, “Randumb Frogs.”
Upon graduation, J.J. headed to Austin, determined to break into the city’s abounding film and music scene. Unbeknownst to J.J., his series had gained a certain level of infamy, and videotaped episodes were been passed around town. One such tape fell in the lap of a local casting director, who recommended J.J. to the cable music channel, “ME Television,” that happened to be searching for on-air talent. J.J. auditioned against hundreds of established area actors, and walked off with the gig.
For the past few years, J.J.’s been hosting two shows on the channel, “Airwaves” and “Red River Rocks.” One afternoon his guest on the show was local music video producer Jon Ray. J.J. and Jon immediately hit it off. They quickly became best buddies, and then roommates. And so when, late this past summer, some producers from Toyota came to town, looking for two young men to host something called the “The Line of Scrimmage,” it was only natural that Jon and J.J. would audition together.
