There are two cowboys involved in Dead Cowboy!. Neither of us are dead though.
Dead Cowboy! began with the sole idea of bringing new and exciting music to North Herts. The purpose of a Dead Cowboy! gig is to combine music from across-the-board and integrate various scenes and cliques, because we all listen to music for similar reasons right? Neither of us are bothered by musical trends, or the NME, or short-lived fads (do people still use that word?). Disappointed with the lack of decent bands and gigs filled with posers and fakes, we decided to do something about it!
We want all of our nights to be fun, and we're pretty confident to say we've achieved that so far. Our first night was hella fun, with Cutting Pink With Knives playing one of the most blistering sets we've ever seen at Club 85. Since then we’ve had Men Of Unitus (who succeeded in scaring a sold-out Club 85), DJ Scotch Egg (who, despite being nearly 6 hours late, played a hilarious but intense set), Partyshank (who are the nicest and most electric duo we know), and loads more. We’ve got plenty more to come too, and we hope that more people turn up with the vain hope that someone in North Herts is trying to set things right again.
IT'S SEXY TIME!!!
PARTYSHANK
The circuit blasting, hotdog wielding 'toystep' mentalists are back in H-town for a good ol' Dead Cowboy! knees up. The second half of 2007 has seen them blast to dizzying heights, having played with Hadouken!, Foals and Man Like Me, as well as getting the thumbs up from Ed Banger electro fiends Justice, and 2008 will see them heading off to Texas to play the infamous South By Southwest festival. Fusing electro, rave, breakcore, chiptune, hardcore and erm, Fisher Price toys, Partyshank are certainly a 'see it to believe it' act. DO NOT MISS IT!!!
THE CLIK CLIK
Possibly one of the most perfect pop outfits Dead Cowboy! has ever heard! Still in their teens, The Clik Clik mash up infectious grooves, killer synths, happy happy harmonies and stupidly fantastic lyrics to create a whirlwind of hyperactive synth pop. Their calender is busying up, with gigs alongside Lethal Bizzle, Bono Must Die and Partyshank, as well as gigs at the renowned Thekla in Bristol and....Norway?! Be happy, be fun, come see this band!
TRAILER TRASH ORCHESTRA
Made up of members of The Sindys, The Astronauts, Redmaxx and Los Chicos Muertos, The Trailer Trash orchestra is something of a local supergroup. The band came together through a shared love of Country-Noir and Trash Rock 'n' Roll, and their sound pretty much reflects this - like Johnny Cash meeting the Ramones at a party thrown by Gram Parsons who's got The Pogues and Ween in as house bands. Gigs to date include festival appearances at Glastonbury, Bestival and Endorset, as well as countless gigs up and down the country. On top of that, they're all real cowboys! Without a doubt the perfect band for any party, get yer boots on 'cos it's time for a hoe down!
TO THE MOON
Relatively new on the scene, To The Moon are a band of epic proportions. Drawing influences from the likes of Peter Hammill, The Mars Volta and of course, Kraftwerk, To The Moon dig up, dissect and reassemble elements of prog, jazz and psychedelia, creating a wall of harmonic feedback and chop 'n' change rhythms!
DOGLATIN & FELIX THE HAIRDRESSER DJ
the people behind The Blowjobs, Sandy Heath Transmitters, Autofire and The Belligerent Aunts are swapping their instruments in favour of the decks, providing a manic mash up of 50's rock 'n' roll, dubstep, punk, funk, psychedelic soul and anything else we've missed out!
