After studying classical piano for 6 years, Oliver discovered jazz at the age of 17, focusing on the double bass at the age of 18. He attended the Johann Strauss School of Music under the tuition of Lino Cremona (double bass) and Joe Debono (improvisation). He joined the world music group Etnika in 2001, with whom he has played in various European festivals (Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), Leon Fest, Tradicionarius Festival (Spain), ECUME Festival of Modal Music (Tunisia), FolkFest (Italy), Rudolstadt Fold Festival (Germany), Europe Day Celebrations (Greece, Ireland, Luxembourg)…) and more recently recorded at WDR Radio in Cologne, Germany.
He has recorded in Malta with various artists of every genre most notably Charles Camilleri and Etnika.
In 2004 he moved to Paris to further his studies at the Conservatory of the 9th district under the tuition of Jacques Vidal, Philippe Baudouin and Emile Spanyi. He is currently attending and participating in jazz masterclasses organised by the CNR of Paris.
In Paris he has played in various jazz formations (David Georgelet Trio, Lionel Boccara Quartet, Perceptual, Julien Daian Quintet...) as well as with a few chanson groups, playing in numerous Parisian clubs (Sunset, Autour de Midi, Divan du Monde…) and festivals around France (Jazz au Couvent (Corsica), Jazz à Vannes, Ville en Musique (Troyes)...).
In France, he has recorded with numerous groups, most notably on Perceptual's debut, an album which will be released by the label Nocturne in 2007.
