My songwriting is the expression of my soul, sometimes in pain, sometimes in beauty. I guess in essence it`s really about the experience of being human. It reflects my belief in passion and purpose, while acknowledging the darkness in life - hopefully drawing toward a sense of light and hope. I write because I have something to say to the world. I believe artists can be very powerful people, mirroring back to the world its behaviour, its insanity, its beauty and its senselessness. The old adage of the pen being mightier than the sword enunciates such unchanging simple truth, especially when truth has been lived within the being of one`s soul. A song of darkness and passing. A song of light and strength. Be gentle with this one! It`s special and I was just a channel for it to be made manifest. I wanted to give this a Medieval/Gregorian feel in reflection of my love and fascination with Medieval history and culture. ***KNOTS ARE BEAUTIFUL - When I was a little girl I was given a cross-stitch tapestry to do as a gift. On the front, my stitching formed a rather nice picture - on the back was an impatient tangled mess of knots and unsightly lumps. I have come to see that life is like a tapestry - we usually only see the back from our life experiences and it often doesn`t look pretty or make sense. However, if we could just turn over and see the beautiful picture our life forms on the other side, we might came to some understanding that our experiences form character, teach us lessons and can be used to better others and the world in some way.
