About Me

Alexandre Godinho da Silva, A.K.A. DJ Alex G. was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 1978.
Alex's introduction to electronic music came when he was 8-years-old and received, as a present, the New Order album "Substance" from his uncle. When he was 12 he would go to various parties along with his cousin, DJ Odil, and was exposed to the sounds of Inner City, Hithouse, S Express, Bomb The Bass, Front 242, Capella, Lee Marrow, among many others. At 14 years of age, Alex was already playing at various parties in his neighborhood with a rudimentary setup of consumer-level sound systems plugged into 4 speaker boxes. At age 17 he was working at several nightclubs in São Paulo with reknowned local DJ's. At 21 he began spinning at bars and nightclubs around the city. At 24, along with Fabio Stein, he would throw bi-monthly parties like Wavecrasher and Village Heaven.
When Alex turned 25 he moved to Los Angeles and in just under 3 years of living in California he's already a resident at Shag next to Leo Azevedo. He's also played at parties such as EM Sundays, Will Spin for Food at Avalon and at Spundae - all of which are situated in Hollywood.
In conclusion, Alex G. is a lover of music and is constantly looking for new trends in dance music. Aside from raising the flag as a house-music DJ, his sets prove to be eclectic, dynamic and filled with surprises. In order to better acquaint yourself with his music check out his series of DJ sets entitled "House Mix", available for download on his website djalexg.net.

NEVER SAY THIS TO A DJ

1. PLAY SOMETHING GOOD...SOMETHING WE CAN DANCE TO! The D.J. has to play for more than one person...so, what you may hate may be another's favorite song and EVERYTHING played here can be danced to one...
