An alternative rock quartet from Pori, Finland. The first so-called beta version of Straid Lazed was formed in 2001 and consisted of singer Simo Harrivaara, bass player Otto Taimi, lead guitarist Teemu Aalto, 2nd guitarist RUBE and drummer Tuukka Kumlin. This band was all about drinking beer and playing Nirvana songs.
The name Straid Lazed was derived from the expression "straight laced"
(Meaning: 1. Excessively strict in behaviour, morality or opinions. 2. Having or wearing a tightly laced garment).
Due to musical disagreements RUBE left the band and Simo became the singer-guitarist. Tatu Laurila replaced Tuukka as the drummer and a primitive demo was recorded on C-cassette. In 2003 the group dissolved and Tatu joined Taipuva Luotisuora. In 2004 Simo "Wino" Harrivaara decided to resurrect Straid Lazed and this time RUBE tried his hand at drumming. Simo met Christopher in high school and he joined as the new singer, leaving the role of sole guitarist to Simo. The group recorded a demo in 2005 called Demonstrations Pt. 1 and a self-financed album the following year called Melofunk. These recodings depicted the current state of Straid Lazed and the band's early influences could clearly be heard from them. In the latter half of 2006, Straid Lazed went on hiatus due to conscription.
The winds of change began to blow in early 2007. In July Straid Lazed parted ways with drummer RUBE due to drastic musical differences and the need for a more experienced musician. However, Straid Lazed consider RUBE to be an aspiring musician and we wish him the best of luck with his new projects. The remaining members of Straid Lazed (Christopher, Wino, Otto) began rehearsing with a drummer they had admired, who was in similar musical circles and fortunately, they hit it off immediately. This new drummer is called Valtteri Harsu and he has been instrumental in completing the four-pieced jigsaw puzzle that is Straid Lazed.
