I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Let's see: I love my adorable wife Kari and my amazing newborn son Beckham, my family, her family, cats/friends, my decks but not so much my mixer...in that order.I'm an attorney by day (partner in a small civil litigation firm). I'm a promoter/dj by night. Would love to be the latter full time but...come on...let's get serious over here. I was a musician most of my life (been in rock bands from high school until late 90's. (guitar). Played semi-pro soccer when I was 17 in Germany and again at 27 here in LA (I was the only one who spoke English). Despite the mullet/soccer rocker on my head, I didn't end up a rock star or a David Beckham (but i named my kid after him) so I'm a lawyer now...what da??? Years of being an athlete have taken a toll on my knees. Both have tears of meniscus in them. Should have surgery.I'm very friendly. The name of the game with me is sarcasm. I'm up late at night because i frequently get insomnia. Don't ask me why. I've had it since i was 11. So when you notice that I'm on line really late at night, it DON'T mean i'm some pervert. I'm just awake and BORED.I love: dancing, laughing, partying with my peeps, travelling, Tennis, Chess, wine tasting in Central California and Napa, and of course DJing and soccer...ok now I'm sounding cliche, so I'm stopping.

My Interests

I think i stated them already in the "about me" section....sheeshh!! OH WAIT: I forgot about ART....Art is integral to my life. I always loved it, but I got even more hooked on it when I started dating my wife while she was a student at Cal Arts in Valencia....Now I'm completely hooked. We're members of everything including LACMA, MOCA, LAPhil, etc...etc...etc... and of course what interests me most right now is PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST!!

I'd like to meet:

1. Cool intelligent fun people who will come dance their butts off at my parties.

2. Up and coming talent, like Musicians/producers/djs
SLOW DANCING SOCIETY

WARPUS
JOSHUA HEATH , and
film director TODD KAUFMAN .

Music:

House Music & Electronica in general (but NOT trance so much although some of it is okay). Otherwise: Rock/pop/whatever Coldplay, The Cure, Air, The Police, DMB, CAKE, Outkast, Old AC/DC, old Aerosmith, Zepplin, Underworld, Queen, Portishead, Pink Floyd, Massive Attack, Radiohead, Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx, Ozomatli, Beck....I loooovveee JAZZ (Miles, Bird, Coltrane, Dizzie, Duke...those cats were grroovay - I try to make the Monterey Jazz Festival every year...i recommend it highly), FUNKJames Brown, Parliament, Prince (old stuff again). Old farts Elton and Billy Joel back when they had soul (prolly around the late 70's); Neil Diamond (yes, that's right) Classical (Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Brahms, Chopin's Nocturnals are unbelievably beautiful!!), Ska (still a whole bunch of fun after all these years...yeah!) & Reggae (see comment on ska...except reggae has Marley...need i say more?)...I'm missing a bunch, I'm sure, but come on, I could go on forever.... CURRENTLY: I'm digging Scissor Sisters, VAN HUNT, Franz Ferdinand's, Jurassic 5, Phoenix, Royskopp, Brazilian Girls and the Gorillaz. I'm also rediscovering BLONDIE!!!!...Aw yeah! This is by no means an all inclusive list...

Movies:

Once again, no end in sight but here goes: Godfather I & II; Goodfellas; The Ring; Alien; The Princess Bride; Pulp Fiction; Swingers; Seven; The Professional; The Matrix; Trainspotting; Fight Night; The Omen; Jaws; Reservoir Dogs; The Shining; The exorcist; True Romance; Three Kings; Les Uns et Les Autres....

Television:

Don't watch it that much but mostly HBO shows: Sopranos; Six Feet Under; Bill Maher; Seinfeld; Curb Your Enthusiasm; The Daily Show, THE WIRE!! (love that show right now...wow!)I've taken Sex & the City off the list in response to that horrible last episode/season.Oh and of course: Lakers games and SOCCER: Right now, watching Copa America. BRAZIL vs. ARGENTINA in the finals. Argentina looks good but I LOVE BRAZIL!!! Ole Ole Ole Oleeee, BRAZILLL, BRAZILLL...next year FiFa European Championships of course; PA and Bundesliga too. Also, some political coverage & news (but it's mainstream so I'm always extremely skeptical about what they tell us, 'no whatta mean?)

There are levels here1. My Father (I know I know, cliche) but he was the real Atticus Finch & My mother.2. Ghandi; MLK; Ralph Nader; Lea Tsemel; Hana Ashrawi; Uri Avnery.3. Mark Farina, DJ Dan, Jimmy Page and a bunch of soccer players that I won't bore you with.

My Blog

Blind loyalty...to what?

I'm so sick of people using their "allegiance" to one party or the other to take positions that are indefensible.  Both major parties are capable of this (that's why i'm an independent). In ...
