Myname is Oprah Winfrey iwas born on January 29, 1954 in Kosciusko, Mississippi,My name was supposed to be Orpah from the bible ,but my mother mispelled it as Oprah. My parents were unmarried when they had me my mothers name is Vernitts Lee ,and my fathername is Vernon. I was raised by my grandmother on a farm, because my mother needed to look for a job so she moved to Milwaukee,when iwas six i moved too Milwaukee with ny mother.During this time,i was sexually abused by a teenage cousin and then by other male relatives and friends. All the years that I convinced myself I was healed, I wasn't. I still carried the shame, and I unconsciously blamed myself for those men's acts.I had a contentious relationship with my mother, I often acted out as a bid to gain attention. Once ,I faked a robbery in my house, smashed glasses, feigned amnesia, and stole my mother's purse, all because I wanted newer, more stylish glasses. My mother sent me to live with my father in Nashville at age 14. My her father saved her life. He was very strict and provided me with guidance, structure, rules, and books. He required me to complete weekly book reports, and i went without dinner until she learned five new vocabulary words each day. i joined my school's drama club and became a prize-winning orator, winning a $1,000 college scholarship after delivering a short speech entitled "The Negro, the Constitution, and the United States" to 10,000 Elks Club members in Philadelphia. i was the first black woman to win Nashville's Miss Fire Prevention title. In 1971 i was named Miss Black Tennessee. In 1976 i graduated with a degree in speech communications and theater from Tennessee State University.
Then i transfered to Chicago university. I got a job at a radio station and that was the start of how i got my fam and i now am one of the Most richest Black women in America.
