About Me

Bass over babylon Although Bass over Babylon are fully versed in contemporary electronic production techniques their aim when producing a remix is not to call attention to their own beat making prowess, but rather to focus attention on the client artists personality and the essence of the song. They do this by retaining elements of the vibe and spontaneity of a live performance within the structure of their new arrangement, resulting in a sound that has an organic warmth and a unified direction, something that could only be achieved by two artists as interesting and eclectic as their own grooves - Brian Jobson and Neil Case. Growing up in Jamaica, Brian and Neil were exposed to the steady transformation of Ska & Rocksteady into Reggae and Dancehall that has characterized Jamaicas musical evolution, and their own careers have mirrored this continual quest for new sounds and vibes. Some notable highlights from the past year include; Producing the debut album from Abdel Wright, a rough hewn singer songwriter from the mean streets of Kingston Jamaica. Abdels potential was quickly recognized by Interscope records which released the album. Produced cover versions of two Bob Marley songs for Alana Davis. One of these songs, Nice Time is featured on Alanas new album Surrender Dorothy which was released in February 2005 on Telarc records. Remixed two songs, program director and one shot from the brand new album by currently hot jam band O.A.R. on Atlantic/Lava records. Produced and co-wrote a song for the debut Universal album release by Tami Chynn, the up and coming dancehall sensation from Jamaica who also appears on the latest Sean Paul album. In addition to various other remixes they are also currently producing several diverse projects including the sophomore album from critically acclaimed Jamaican singer/songwriter Della Manley and an album from legendary Jamaican jazz guitarist Ernie Ranglin. Prior to this, Brian and brother Wayne Jobson (of KROQ & XM Satellite radio fame) worked with top rock group No Doubt and helped them tap into the Jamaican groove for their latest album, Rocksteady. Brian and Wayne were executive producers on four songs including the dancehall flavored smash single Hey Baby. Along the way Brian has also worked and jammed with many well known artists including Dave Stewart & Annie Lennox, Jimmy Cliff, Alvin Lee, Betty Wright, Sly & Robbie, and UB40 etc. Neil Case began his career as a recording engineer at the legendary Dynamic Sounds Studios in Kingston, Jamaica where he worked with such reggae icons and international stars as Toots and the Maytals, Peter Tosh, Inner Circle, Joe Cocker, Stevie Wonder and many more. After moving to the USA he began releasing a series of self produced techno albums in the early nineties under the aliases of Beat Dominator and Bass Mekanik which have been quite successful, generating total sales of over a million units so far.
