I want a patch of blue sky to follow me. - Why (Anticon Records)

About Me

Terrible at writing people back but I love you.

Music at: myspace.com/thelostmissouriletters

My new album is auditorially complete! Check out the rough tracks not on the album at myspace.com/thelostmissouriletters ! I now live in BERKELEY, in a fabulous low ceilinged little place with trees and plants galore, and a patio and lots of darling neighborhood kitties. The weather is better in berkeley. It's not so freaking cold all the time. While I don't have an awesome rooftop view anymore, it's more than made up for by the fact that I can cook naked in my new abode. I am still working at the civil rights law firm, but am trying to get up the courage to start my own business.

I like to make music, art, poetry, stories, and "things" of no practical use but containing time and love. Art in this world is one of the most important things about my tiny little life made from billion-year-old grains of stardust. Conversations about abstract, outer space-related, philosophical, impractical, or interestingly practical things also make my world go 'round.

And check out these guys, because it's important info about our dying planet: myspace.com/myplanet

My Interests

The paintings left by my mother in the very back of her closet. The necklace I made from the shells torn from the beach hat we wore that summer in South Carolina... Motorcycles, Scooters, walks, rollerblades, biking sometimes, sunlight, the smell of flowers, weirdness, and visual art.

I'd like to meet:

People who give advice about life. Just give it out, on any subject. People who love art. People who like philosophy. People who like psychology. Of their own versions, or the main stream ones.

Music:

The Acorn Discovery, Air, Ani Difranco, Asahi (see friends), The Bangles, Blink 182, The Bravery, Cake, Chet Baker, Death Cab for Cutie, Emily Picha (see friends), Erin Kilkenny (she's on myspace, too), Edith Piaf, Fiver, The Huxtables, Joni Mitchell (as a youngin'), Kaki King, Kid Capsule (http://www.kidcapsule.com/mainframeset.htm), Ladytron, Le Tigre, Manuok (awesome band, see my friends), Luka Bloom, Mates of State, Metric, M.I.A., The Microphones, The Mountain Goats, Neutral Milk Hotel, Nick Drake, Nouvelle Vague, NVS, Of Montreal, Pinback, Postal Service, Quasi, Radiohead, The Real Tuesday Weld, The Rentals, Richard Buckner, Run DMC, Sheena Ringo, Smashing Pumpkins, Stereolab, Tensegrity Nine (They rule!!! See my friends, tensegrity nine!), Thingy, The Unicorns, Weezer, And tons more. Some new stuff that I heard on myspace: The Anthem, 5606, NVS.

Movies:

SHORTBUS!!! Hidden camera videos of you in the shower. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Harold and Maude, Afterlife (Japanese), Advertising Rules (German), I 3 Huckabees, Donnie Darko (not the director's cut, though you need to read the chapter excerpts from the DC), Napoleon Dynamite because it had a TERRIFIC no plot. Singles, Old School, Wayne's World, Chasing Amy, Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey, Roger Doger, The Truman Show, all the Woody Allen movies I've ever seen.

Television:

red dwarf. okay, and sex in the city. and of course the simpsons.

Books:

The Unfinished Novel, by Valerie Martin. It's like listening in on the crazy, and lame, and messed up lives of artists and writers. Cosmicomics, A Fine and Private Place, Notes from the Underground, Catcher in the Rye, Mrs. Dalloway, Three Lives, Death in Venice, The World According to Garp, "Hairball" by Margaret Atwood, The Geneology of Morals (Nietzsche), The Metamorphosis, The Kitchen God's Wife, White Teeth, Wonder Boys, Virgin Suicides, concept-focused Sci Fi (like 1984, A Wrinkle in Time, or even the Twilight Zone) or sci fi long out of print that you find at thrift stores or in library bins, independent essay-full art mags like "Art US" or "Works and Conversations". Graphic books: Strangers in Paradise, Why I hate Saturn, Clumsy (did you know he has an animated music video on the Death Cab for Cutie DVD?)

Heroes:

People I meet who gather small things in the world and make something beautiful. Like happiness.

My Blog

The first time.

I keep thinking about how powerful firsts are for me. For all of us. All the wonder that comes with the new thing burns the moment and everything associated with it indelibly into my skull. ...

Any Judicial canidates to vote for this election?

I've been researching the Judicial canidates, and it's actually quite a task. It doesn't seem as though democrats or green party members are endorsing any of the judicial canidates, but my internet re...
