I was inspired to collect and make this compilation of films from a film I viewed about Old Black Films lost, then found years later just sitting in a Warehouse. (The Tyler Texas Black Film Collection). Some of these films found in this warehouse have since been released on VHS and DVD. Enough About Me...... Lets Talk Movies....

JAMES BASKETT

James Baskett starring in the film Song of the South, was the first black man to have a leading role in a Disney Film. James also won an Honorary Oscar for his role in the film as Uncle Remus. The song he sang, Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah won an Oscar as well. Although the film was shown in the United States in 1946,1956, 1972, 1980, 1986, the controversy was that the film was racist! It can be purchased Internationally. This film has not be released on VHS or DVD in the United States for viewing.

Leadbelly is a 1976 film chronicling the life of folk singer Huddie William Ledbetter (better known as "Leadbelly"). The film was directed by Gordon Parks, and starred Roger E. Mosley in the title role.
