Stanley Samuelsen was born in a small village, Fuglafjord, in the Faroe Islands as the youngest of 12 children and grew up with his mother and some elder sisters and brothers, since his father died shortly after Stanley was born.
12 years old Stanley got his first guitar. Listening to the radio he tought himself to play and from the age of 14 he became a member of the local band Silly Boys and played at the dancehall every weekend. In 1970 Silly Boys won a competition as the most popular band in the Faroe Islands.Stanley went to stay in Denmark in 1970, and he played in different bands thoughout the years. In 1980..s he started playing for the danish tradeunions and for many years he was the musician at congresscenters, schools and universities. He played for politicians and workers all over Denmark, Sweden and even in Jamaica. For this work he recieved the Danish LO Culture price in 1992.Stanley began touring with his own singer- songwriter material in the 90's and he has been travelling and performing many times in all Nordic and Baltic countries. Stanley has a huge repertoire and besides faroese he sings in english, danish and swedish.STANLEY HAS RECORDED TWO SOLO ALBUMS IN 1999 AND 2005. You can buy them from www.tutl.com.It is obvious that Stanley is influenced by some of the well known musicians from the 60's but Stanleys childhood as well as growing up in the rough but beautifull landscape of the Faroe Islands is a very big influence to his music, that is very sensitive.Playing the guitar is Stanleys way of expressing his inner feelings, and every chord , every tiny tone is perfectly placed and shines like a jewel to the listeners. So natural and so fine that people often say they don..t need to understand the words when he performs in a language unknown. Stanleys music touches emotions deep inside. You are wellcome to visit Stanleys official websitehttp://www.stanleysamuelsen.dk

Review from Trio Acoustica in Vilnius.I had the good fortune to come across these guys (Stanley, Steen-Vidar and Oistein) at the Tai-As Festival in Vilnius last year (2007). Although we were on different legs of the tour round Lithuania, we all met up for the final concerts in Vilnius. It seems the Trio are old festival favourites there, and it was easy to see why. They’re all natural musicians, who blend their various strengths so effortlessly, it can be difficult to see who is actually doing what. Both the vocal and the guitar work combines for rich effect, and their confidence and ease with each other invites the audience in to create an intimate experience, even within the baroque grandeur of St Catherines (incidentally one of the most gorgeous venues I’ve ever seen)Their music evokes the sunshine of California, the landscapes of Scandinavia, the cotton fields of the South, with dashes of Latin and jazz …. Three great players who play for the love of it, with no pretense or side! I’ll be looking out for their first dates over here in the UK, and I recommend you do too!Steve Dowling
