About Me

Sheldon Scrivner

all guitars, bass, drum programming, keyboards

I’ve been playing guitar since records were around and before Ronald Reagan was president. I’ve been in and out of various bands and recording projects over the years in the Bay Area of California and Phoenix, Arizona. These songs are part of a collection of songs I recorded as demos in my home studio. Some of them were featured last year in a documentary on biofuel. If all goes as planned I’ll be re-recording them with a live drummer in a full length CD sometime in 2008. I don’t really consider myself an instrumental guitar player. It’s just that I’ve only had the opportunity to work with a couple of decent singers over the years. Finding a talented vocalist/lyricist that’s compatible with your musical style is pretty much like nailin’ the lottery. For a sample of some stuff I’ve done with a vocalist you can check out myspace.com/azentropy. I truly believe that music is a gift given to us by the Creator, so instead of letting my music go stagnant while looking for a band situation, I’ve just been focusing on recording pretty much instrumental tunes while playing the occasional local gig..

about "Autobahn"

"Autobahn", like "Vai Funk 1", is a tune loosely based on another Steve Vai song called "Black Forest". Again, I "borrowed" a theme and then arranged, re-arranged, edited and then played it my way.

Collaboration anyone?

Anybody out there (vocalist, guitarist, band, etc.) interested in collaborating on some songwriting and/or recording? If so, drop me a line and tell me what you think. Sheldon

About "Vai Funk .1"

This song is based on the main theme of a Steve Vai tune that was a hidden track. I just cut out most of the other sections, added my own other arrangements and progressions, and played it my way. Not...
