A Place To Call Home

There's no place like HOME...

About Me

A Place to Call Home is composed of Anthony Nielsen (vocals, guitar), Nathaniel Galovich (bass), Carl Yocum (guitar), and Scotty Fox (drums). APTCH began as an idea from Anthony but later became more of a group effort as members were replaced and became more involved.
Anthony Nielsen wrote many of the songs in previous incarnations (Phosgene Factor, Siphon, Iron Lung, and Darkest of Days). He started playing guitar as a freshman in high school and soon coupled that with singing but didn’t truly begin to polish his voice until Darkest of Days during his senior year. Today he has gained 8 years of experience as a guitarist and vocalist with over 90 songs in queue.
Nate Galovich began playing with Anthony during the summer of their sophomore year when Anthony started his first band. There was already a drummer, guitarist, and singer so Nathaniel opted to learn the bass. After a year, Nathaniel left to perform with a band called Passenger while refining his knowledge of musical theory and performance at Diablo Valley College. A few years later, Nathaniel rejoined Anthony to become a part of Phosgene Factor, which later evolved into A Place to Call Home. Nathaniel has been playing bass for 8 years, just as long as Anthony has been practicing his craft.

Here's what one magazine review has to say about our music. Keep in mind this was reviewed with two previous band members onboard.
The first thing that comes to mind after a minute of this three-song demo is, “Bush” - not the president; that 90s band with the guy all the girls in high school thought was hot. Despite vocalist/guitarist Anthony Nielsen’s husky voice, A Place to Call Home quickly eschews the Bush comparison with a display of strong musicianship and complex, yet unpretentious, song structures. On the eponymous final title track, the band truly comes alive with Jose Martinez’s intricate, tasteful lead guitar, bassist Nathaniel Galovich’s propelling bass lines and the constant percussive drive of drummer Alex Marks. The recording is surprisingly crisp and clear for a demo, and it’s obvious that a lot of work has gone into this band. Sure it’s a bit radio-friendly, but it’s certainly beats Nickelback.
