LUAU FOR THE LOWDOWN IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY, ME!
Based out of Rancho Palos Verdes, Royal Palms is rich in history. Initially home to the Gabrielino Indians (1542), "discovered" by Spanish Soldier Dominguez (1784), visited by pirates and missionaries alike, then being awarded to Don Dolores Sepulveda (1822-1882) by the Governor of Mexico California for his contribution in The Mexican Revolution, who built Royal Palms Hotel & Spa on stilts, taken over by the government when he was unable to maintain it (1882-1913), the hotel eventually became destroyed by storms during World War 2. In 1978 it was given to the city of Los Angeles by the State. During the years, only locals would visit the secluded beach that was once alive with food, dance and friends. It wasn't till the mid 1990's that The State decided to charge for parking.
It was Don Dolores Sepulveda who planted the palm trees at Royal Palms, laid the flat stone, pit and sitting area. He used it for entertaining and we plan on doing the same. Gracias Don Sepulveda!!!
