BIOGRAPHY

Lox loves music. He has been producing, rocking gigs, and looking good for the last year now, his status must be growing. The music he’s playing is ace as is the general vibe around him… (Quote: Salvodor, Board Moderator - 4clubbers.net).
Manchester born DJ/Producer John Loxley aka Lox is constantly in search of new sounds. Involved with the Leeds underground dance scene since 2000, his first ever job at the now legendary Loop Records (currently The Loft, home of Leftroom Records) meant Lox was always in touch with the newest sounds and forever pioneering them at both Parlez-vous? (Mixmag club of the month 2002) & Housewives Choice (Mixmags ’Mini Super-club’), where after winning the BASE @ Space DJ Competition, he held residencies.
Following regular bookings for Sundissential North, The Tidy Weekender, Goodgreef and a multitude of parties from Newcastle to London, Lox continues to push the freshest music either solo, or as one half of technically formidable DJ duo, The Nox (www.myspace.com/thenoxdjs).
With a slew of releases on his well established Housewives Choice Recordings imprint, Lox was shot to hard-house stardom with two Dark By Design collaborations and a remix of Dark Society anthemic; Show Me The Way, all three signed to hard dance super label, Tidy Trax. Since then he’s never looked back. Massively influenced by Fergie, Eddie Halliwell & John Carter, Lox is an experimental, forward thinking innovator who thrives on entertaining people & loves to party! Although more commonly associated with techno & tech-house, Lox continues to manage the hard-edged HWC label.
Housewives Choice Recordings has become a platform for experimentation. The label has gone from strength to strength, gaining support from DJ Mag and Mixmag: (Quote) ‘This labels picking up a fair few fans now with its policy of bringing through lesser-known producers’. Support from such well established artists as Lisa Pin-Up, Tidy Boys, Andy Whitby, Lisa Lashes, Anne Savage, Jay Pidgeon, Rob Tissera, Olly Perris and Amber D has added to the labels credibility.
Lox’s first two collaborations with Gaz West aka Dark By Design were signed by Tidy Trax after gaining massive support from the likes of Andy Whitby, Tidy Boys, Lisa Lashes & Ilogik. Lox Vs Dark By Design: ‘Strapped In’ features on the Lisa Lashes ‘Lashed’ album and both ‘Strapped In’ and ‘Fucked Up!’ feature respectively on the Tidy Addict Album 2005. Released on Housewives Choice, Lox & Dark By Design: ‘Chemistry’ features on the Tidy Weekender Live album Mixed by Lisa Pin-Up. The Lox & Leigh Green remix of the classic ‘Red Snapper’ by K90 was released in 2006 on K90’s Dataless Records and the massive, Lox & Leigh Green remix of Dark Society: ‘Show Me The Way’ is arguably one of the biggest ever hard house anthems. TRACKITDOWN.NET says... One of the most understated Tidy anthems of all time? This huge track from Dark Society was received to huge critical acclaim last summer and gets a timely digital reissue for 2007. If you missed this first time around, enjoy one of the finest hard dance anthems of recent times!

Its challenging and rewarding to affect a different sense of what gets clubbers going on the dance floor, based on personal memories, associations and musical influences.

The label will develop on its own merits, so I don’t really know how big it might become. Sometimes small is big though, so my girlfriend tells me!

We’re heading towards Bangra Techno, Spongecore Jazz & Progressive Cheese, that sort of thing.....

The label encapsulates all kinds of music. If it..s a good tune it..ll be considered no matter what genre. We’re considering some electro & techno-trance based tracks but we..re also happy with the harder edged stuff.
