The thoughts of William Merriman (harvest ministers)
"on all of the songs on your wonderful album!"
1. Le Train express de midi
Great opener, singing as i've told you already is fab. The acoustic guitars are gorgeous, & the touch of electric guitar & cricket sounds are cool. You've set a tough standard for yourself. Luckily you've plenty of aces up your sleeve!
2. Nuisance
Like a spring walk, delightful melody, makes you wanna smile. Love the interwoven sounds of the flute with the piano in the second half.
3. La tete droite
Quite a dramatic song to my ears! A performance piece in the old school 'Cabaret' but with a dark charming side. Could be the theme song of one of the tales from Boccaccio's Decameron!
4. Nicolevitch
Cineamatic, conjours up quick moving images of people walking across a bridge. I like it of course.
5. Chanson claire -obscure
In the top five of the album. It feels quite sad for me. Violin adds alot & the singing again, is so good.
6. Levitch
Off beat music interlude Someone's walking backwards in this one! Backwards down the scaffold!
7.Carlotta
What make of electric guitar is used on the intro? Really like the percussion, natural & warm.
8. Librairie de jadis
Do you say 'Petit bonhomme'? love that! Terrific melody, accordion & piano work well together again, and the fade is neat.
9. Quiproquo
Most light hearted ( lyric wise) song on the album. There's almost a comic feel to it. In the top five, easy.
10. Et les jours passent
Uplifting intstrumental, i sort of see this as a 'Flashback' of all the stories you've been telling for some reason
11. Le danseur de tango
You're coaxed into this one beautifully, like the curtain coming across the stage. One of my favs lyrically.
12. Vis a vies
One of those aces you've kept slapped on the table, melody & much more!
13. Luna
Brave to finish the album off like this. The events of what's gone before are over with, the dancer gone home, the train long since departed. There's alot of characters sprinkled in your mind by the time this piece finishes. A very loud bravo reverberates!
