About Me

Mike Huffman, a.k.a. "Mike Magic", "Scooby", began his musical career at the age of 12 when he was interested in playing the drums. By the age of 14 he was introduced in the toledo music scene by filling in for a drummer for a local classic rock band. He continued doing so untill the age of 15 when he went to see a drum clinic performed by Steve Smith. "While I was at the clinic, I saw this guy sitting behind a monstrous brown thing on one side of the stage", said Mike. "Dad, what is that thing?" he asked his father, Bruce Huffman. "That is a Hammond B-3 organ, and a leslie speaker." replied Bruce. It wasn't long after that clinic that Mike realized that is what he wanted to play.
He began to teach himself how to play the piano, and became the piano player for the highschool jazz band. Shortly thereafter he had joined up with several of the hottest acts in his home town, Toledo, OH . He has shared the stage with many different national acts such as, Grand Funk Railroad, Bad Company, and Cheap Trick. He also placed number one in the regional blues competition in January of 2007 with Toledo's own, "Josh Boyd and the VIP Band". Mike is currently the keyboard player for Charlotte based up and coming national act, Swampdawamp. Mike proudly endorses the following products and services: Yamaha Keyboards, Nord Keyboards, The Hammond Organ Company, Leslie Speakers, Ultimate Ears (in ear monitors), and The Mental Case Company.***********************************************

Sounds Like: It has been said that if you take the funky tastefulness of Chester Thompson (Tower of Power), the screaming b3 tone of Gregg Rollie (Santana), and insane out of the box chops of Keith Emerson (ELP), and Jon Lord (Deep Purple), and place them in a blender with a shot of tequila........you would have something pretty close to mikes playing style. :
