About Me
Patrick Shea, a graduate of the highly acclaimed Musicians Institute of Technology, is a progressive and versatile rock guitar player, studio musician and instructor. His ability ranges from highly technical to soft melodic tones.A southern California native, Patrick began playing guitar at the age of 10. When he wasn't surfing, you would rarely see him without a guitar in his hands. Practicing five to six hours every day he had little interest in school and would often skip to hang out with the older players in town. At 14 he had his first professional gig playing at Fanny's Ice Cream Parlor. At 16, he gained recognition from local experienced guitar players by performing cover tunes at local bars and night clubs. Soon he was sought after by local established bands to sit in as a hired gun.In 1984, he joined Bruce Joyner and the Plantations and enjoyed his first taste of success recording a single and two albums, reaching 7 and 10 on the European charts. He also enjoyed the local celebrity of college radio interviews and performing live original Gothic Swamp rock in the LA circuit. When he left Bruce Joyner, he took time off from live performance to perfect his form and style of playing. He later joined Nimbus Obi, an original progressive rock band based in San Diego . With Nimbus Obi he recorded songs for Warner Brothers Records. Nimbus Obi played live extensively in LA and San Diego , including The Roxy , The band split up in 1992 and he went to LA to attend the Musicians Institute.Patrick has performed live with other southern California based bands, Laser Maze, Yankee Pride, Lil Sister and the Michael Bliss Band.He has also recorded a CD and performed live with the award winning Kelly Bowlin Band, a Southern roots rock band. Patrick experienced the opportunity to open up for well know performers, such as Soul Asylum, Jr Brown, Dwight Yoakum, America, Kansas, Al Stewart and Ambrosia to name a few. Now into the recording end of the business Patrick was lucky enough to be introduced to the great Tristan Des Pres, a phenomenal and well respected musician and mentor to him in the recording industry, he is truly a master of his craft and has helped immensely with Patrick's career as owner and operator of FULL FORCE RECORDING.
