About Me

Soul is a most elusive sensation, like lovesomething that has to be felt. But when you are in the grips and midst of soul, well, then you know it.
As a prolific songwriter, Michael has drawn upon the sounds and rhythms of his youthfrom the American textures of jazz, blues, and pop, to the R&B song craft of Muscle Shoals and Fame studios, to the gospel roots of his childhood. You will find the evidence of these influences on Welcome to Your World, his second album on his own Grab A Mic Records, but Michael feels theyre all different takes on the same thing. Its all music with feel, says Michael. Real music. Soul music.
Michael has performed with artists like Bonnie Raitt, the Chambers Brothers and Double Trouble. He has toured throughout the U.S. with his own band and played notable venues including the Belly Up Tavern (Solana Beach, CA), B.B. Kings (Hollywood), the Elbo Room (NYC), Antones (Austin), Saxon Pub (Austin), Rhythm Room (Phoenix), Billy Blues (Houston), Kennys Castaways (NYC), and numerous festivals including the Pechanga Biker Rally (CA), and Sons of Italy Festival (NYC). Backed by exceptional musicians, he lays out a fiery blend of adrenaline-charged funk-rock, infectious groove, and old-school soul.
The Michael Bliss Band is all about playing live, says Michael. When we hit that stage, we leave everything else behind. This is what we are about and who we are. Putting on a show just out of the joy we have for playing music.
Michaels second album, Welcome to YourWorld, features guests Ivan Neville, DarylJohnson, and Phil Keaggy.
