as well as many other industry people we are not a liberty to discuss at present time for legal reasons.
Influences: Russell Simmons: The state of hop hop would be a decade behind were it not for your pioneering work with Rick Rueben. Def Jam paved the way for hip hop to crossover not only musically but culturally and continues to do so for ever emerging musical genres. You are an icon and a role model for us all. Many in the "fam" would never have had the opportunites they have had it not been for your drive, vision, and willingness not to fail.
Shawn Carter: "The President", Jay-Z, HOV...There is no more powerful force today than Rocafella Records (a subsidiary of Def Jam). It's artists like Common, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and your work with Linkin Park and Mike Shinoda that leaves no doubt as to your dedication to diversity and positvity by proxy. It's Kanye that said "the same wrongs helped me write this song" in "Touch the Sky". Thanks for teaching me [GoldNKiD] you don't have to live with regret...just do something.
Sean Combs: Puffy, Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, Diddy...Bad Boy Entertainment has been a powerhouse since before Biggie. After refusing to be an assistant any longer at Atlantic he went out and brought light to Mary J. Blige, Craig Mack, and Jodeci (who defined an entire era of New Jack R&B beween Devante and Teddy Riley) before becoming the independant star and mogul he is today. [Before there was a "rap" section I used to buy ANYTHING produced by Sean "Puffy" Combs because at least I knew I was going to get something people could dance to-GNK]
Jermaine Dupri: SOOOOO SOOOOOO Def! Another producer/record label I could count on to just buy the record because JD has a sound that is instantly recognizable and always scores high on the head nod factor. The Derrty South owes its roots to JD! Not only does he churn out hit after hit for artist after artist he's the most successfull mogul in Atlanta.
Dr. Dre: It doesn't seem to matter where Dre goes...he takes his beats with him. A true grinder. His beats, all the way back to NWA, play out like a soundtrack for my life. I have nothing but respect for Dre and his principals, associates, and Eminem has incredible talent (just don't sue me for playing with your acapella!) -GoldNKiD
Sounds Like: Each artist has their own flavor and sound. Please take some time to look through the artists' profiles and listen to more of their music!
