In July of 2005 Providence Hip Hop artist, Cascius, was at home when he suddenly fell victim to a seizure. Assuming it was the result of a bad car accident that he had been involved in a few months prior, Cascius was immediately rushed to the Hospital. Upon MRI testing the doctors concluded that Cascius's seizure was not the result of any car accident. At the age of twenty six years old Cascius, Andrew Reis, who was born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island, was informed by doctors that he was suffering from a brain tumor. Through many consultations it was decided that Drew's brain surgery was to be performed one month later.
Andrew Reis, better known as Cascius at the time, had been known in Hip Hop communities since the age of fifteen when the group he was involved with opened up for Foxy Brown at the Strand Nightclub in Providence, RI. Soon after that they opened for Redman and it seemed like a star was about to be born.
In 2000 Andrew Reis began his solo career under the name Cascius and his talent was impossible to ignore. With the help Dj Buck, Cascius was booked as the opening act for HOT 106FM presents Master P at Jovans Nightclub.
Cascius's career began to slow down at this point and by early 2005 he was realizing that it may be time to give up on his dreams of becoming a star. This is when fate stepped in and faced Andrew Reis with the hardest realization yet, a brain tumor.
It was 2005 and Andrew Reis, aka Cascius, had undergone a successful brain Surgery and it looked as if he was ready to get back to the life he had decided to lead. However, one thing had changed. Andrew Reis now had a purpose, a reason to be heard that had nothing to do with becoming a star. Drew, as his friends call him, had been warned by doctors that a reccurence was possible and that it had to be kept in mind. This instilled a sense of urgency in Drew's desire to be heard and shortly after, with the help of life long friends, he returned to the studio and released "The Transition" Mixtape in the Spring of 2006.
The mixtape spread and along with it did the knowledge of Drew's talents. On July 9th of 2006 Cascius was slated to perform a solo set at The Coda Lounge in Johnston, Rhode Island when he suffered yet another seizure just hours prior to show time. The show was assumed cancelled and everyone's attention was immediately directed to Drew's health, everyone's attention except for Drew's... The doctors had told him all the tests were negative and that he was cleared to perform... and that was what he was going to do...
Later on in the summer of 2006 Cascius returned to The Coda stage as the opening act for Akrobatik... It looked as if the sky was the limit until Drew's limits were tested once again. In October of 2006 Drew's brain tumor returned and he once again underwent surgery... Facing months of treatments and therapy Andrew Reis had to once again evaluate his outlook on life.
Around the exact same time of the recurrence Drew caught the eye of Gene Dozier, legendary artist, song writer, producer, and the owner of 19 Gold and Platinum Records. Mr. Dozier had recently moved to Rhode Island and formed his own record label, Renaissance City Records. Drew was shortly after offered a record deal from Renaissance City Records. Drew was given a clean bill of health once again by his doctors and accepted the deal, However, he informed Mr. Dozier that he would be changing his stage name...
To Drew the name Cascius was designed for a person who wanted stardom, fame, the average Hip Hop dream... After two long and grueling bouts with a brain tumor Drew decided that if he was going to be given the chance to be heard, he wanted people to understand who he was...
"Ace", a childhood nickname, and "Diamond", his birth stone, are both representations of who Andrew Reis has become. Ace Diamond is offering his story, his life....... "The Hand I Was Dealt", Ace Diamond's Debut Album off Renaissance City Records.... In stores soon.... ..... ..... ..... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... ....
