About Me

The five songs you can hear on this site are a collection of tunes Rupert has written for the various bands he's in, or just for the hell of it. All of them are demo's that he recorded at home on his nifty eight track. All of the vocals are him, along with all the instrumentation. Unfortunately his neighbours hate him, so he's had to use a drum machine. Please keep an open mind in that respect!
If you scroll down in the player section, you'll find the 5th song...
'Way Too Drunk' is the continuation of a theme, presented for you by Rupert, and well studied. It's a true story that he's not proud of, but not embarrassed about either!
'Rodeo' is one of Rupe's 'hits' as far as he's concerned.... Hhhmmm, maybe he should enter it into Tamworth Star-maker, or whatever it's called???
'Sheree' is a very basic rock 'n' roll song Rupe wrote for a laugh. He plans to play it in his solo show... With a shit-hot band behind him of course...!
'This Foolish Heart'. A song that does nothing to clear up the confusion of why we love and yearn. Like all of these home demo's, it features Rupert playing all instruments, and singing all the vocal parts.
'Not With You' was written for Matt and Anna to sing, in Big Kitty, it still needs a tweak, but Rupe likes the instrumental break, so it's on here! !?

Rupert has been playing, writing, and recording his own style of country/rockabilly/original music for the last 15 years. He's currently playing around Brisbane in a few different bands. Here's a quick rundown of what he's up to...

Playing traditional jazz with his dad, Andy Jenner. No drummer, just guitar (Rupert), and Andy on an assortment of reeds.

Playing jump blues, swing, country, and rockin' dance tunes with 'Big Kitty and the Scaredy Cats'. This group has a fantastic line-up of very good musos. There's Anna Eves on vocals, Matt Eves on double bass, Chris Harvey on guitar, Jules Victor on the drums, and Rupert on the other side of stage trading licks with 'Harvey'.

Rupert is also with a gang called 'Men Into Space'. If you ever hear of this band playing, it's an event not to be missed! It includes Rupert on rocket guitar and theremin, Jon Flynn on the double bass, Dan Nosovich on laser-gun guitar and double-barrelled lap steel, plus Coojee Timms on drums. Men Into Space play intergalactic b-grade 50's sci-fi, with a touch of surf and ozone. All their instruments are hand-crafted from the finest space materials, and their space suits are direct from NASA!

Rupert plays every Friday night with his old buddy and mentor 'Blind dog' Donny Bourke, and three cool young lads by the names of Jo, James and Alex, on guitar, bass and drums respectively. They play from 8.30 - 12.30 at the Boundary St Hotel in West End and it's a great jamming hoot of a night. Come along and find out for yourself!

Rupert and Matty Eves do a little swing blues jazz country duo every Sunday Arvo, (1.30 - 4.30) at Seagrass fish and chippery, at the bottom of Boundary St, West end. It's always a lovely sunny Sunday Session, and any requests are welcome. Come and have a beer with us and an end of the week catch up with family and friends! We'd love to see you there!

If the bands mentioned here have their own Myspace sites, Rupert will endeavor to get them here for you to link to.
