About Me

I'm an American lass and have been living in the UK for the past 7 years. Originally from the Lone Star State , I've spent so much time here that I sound like I'm from somewhere over the Atlantic, except when I've had a few to drink and then my accent comes flooding back.
I'm currently studying for an MA in English Literature at Leeds Met and should be finished with by September, after writing an arduous dissertation.
A Guardian reader, I'm also into organics and local produce .

And finally, I'm a big fan of The Idler as I think he's got a great idea. Also, this is a great read. It's too bad greed gets in the way for it to work effectively.
A stunning piece of prose written by Vaclav Havel, regarding Hope...
a state of mind, not a state of the world. Either we have hope within us or we don't; it is a dimension of the soul, and it's not essentially dependent on some particular observation of the world or estimate of the situation... It is an orientation of the spirit, an orientation of the heart; it transcends the world that is immediately experienced, and is anchored somewhere beyond the horizons. I don't think you can explain it as a mere derivative of something here, of some movement, or of some favourable signs in the world. I feel that its deepest roots are in the transcendental, just as the roots of human responsibility are...It is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that something makes sense, regardless of how it turns out.

My Interests

I am very interested in philosophy, especially the French philosophers: Foucault, Barthes, Derrida, Irigaray and Kristeva. I'm also a fan of Carter and plan on using her theory of the Sadeian Woman in my dissertation.

As my adopted city, Leeds has provided me with a great deal of interesting places to see and many great nights out... Eating, drinking and general merriment in Leeds , a great place for supping tasty ales , and fresh air .

I'd like to meet:

This guy .
And perhaps, just perhaps, this fella .

Even more so, I would like to meet another accomplished sesquipedalian.

Music:

I'm a big fan of the indie scene, however, I'm happy t listen to most music.
I choreographed this video using all of my best moves!

Movies:

That boy's a genius!

Television:

If you're a fan of the Adam and Joe show you'll love this...

Books:

The majority of my library collection can be found here
It's a great site where you can list all of your books and discuss things about books. Yes, I know nerd.
In the meantime, try this or this .

Heroes:

One of my biggest heros is Samuel Johnson (and I don't mean his girth).
For those of you not familiar with his work, he wrote the dictionary .

My Blog

Urban Regeneration

Ah&Urban Regeneration, the council and developers way of making an area that is considered to be scrofulous and undesirable into prime property, worth an absolute bundle, under the guise of regenerati...

My medication isn't the only thing that leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Why is it when you're poorly every shite movie suddenly becomes very appealing? I think it's because the infirm brain can't handle anything intense rather than the movie collection; I actually have a...
