A Goth Industrial Cuban Computer Geek

About Me

I am an open minded, music lover, who loves life, friends and family. I was born in Madrid, Spain from Cuban parents, grew up in the wonderfull town of DeKalb, IL and live just outside Chicago. I am a long time goth industrial music lover but my tastes don't just lie there. I love being outside, which I don't always get as much time to do as I'd like. I love reading, movies and hanging out with friends. I was the keyboard player in a industrial band called Slow Revolution which recently broke up. I love animals, although I don't currently have any.. I love horses (ride english, a little dressage), had a part Adalusian part Percheron stallion called Bach (best horse in the world IMHO), which i used to joust on (yes in armour and all). Unfourtunately that is no longer the case.. The life of a busy computer geek... Speaking of which for a living I am a computer Storage Area Network Architect and Adminstrator. Yes I realize that is geek speak but some computer nerd out there knows what I'm talking about... I love philosophy, love cosmology and physics, and want more than anything to get to travel the world at some point in my life. Thats me... If you want to know more your just going to have to ask...

My Interests

OK.. where to start... Music (in a big way), dancing (although I suck), movies (scifi, fantasy, horror, etc), books (I love to read), camping, hiking, horseback riding, computers, games (consoles aned PC), hanging outside at the Renaissance Fair with friends and people watching in the summer... spending time with my friends.. Anything that has to do with Cosmology and the universe, Philosophy and Physics... I'm a bit of a geek (understatement) and proud of it. Recently started brewing mead, but I'll have to wait a couple years to know if i'm any good at it. I'll have to blame my friend Bob for this newest addiction. There is lots more (I'll leave my perversions out of it), you'll just have to get to know me.

I'd like to meet:

I would love to meet an open minded, intelligent, free spirited woman who loves life, listens to music, and loves family and friends. I like someone who enjoys going out to a club or local bar, and also likes a hanging at home with a book or movie. I am of the mind two people don't have to share every interest, but they do have to be accepting of the other persons interests... I also like someone who is confident in who they are. I believe a person should be who they are, and be proud of it. I like someone who is not afraid to try new things and be adventerous. I'm on this site to meet friends... Everything else I leave to fate. I figure if its meant to be it will happen on its own.

Music:

Skinny Puppy, NIN, Dead Can Dance, Sisters of Mercy, Frontline Assembly, Misfits, The Cure, Bauhaus, Current 93, The Legendary Pink Dots, Pegboy, Coil, Synaesthesia, Smashing Pumpkins, Social Distortion, more than I can name... I love Ambient, Techno, Goth, Industrial, Punk, Classical, Jazz, Rockabilly, everything but country. Lets just say I love music. Recently I have been listening to Rise Against, Flyleaf, Tool, Atreyu, etc...

Movies:

I love Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, and all kinds of other stuff... I love the Lord of the Ring movies (like everyone else), I like the superhero genre of movies like Batman Begins or the Spiderman movies (I have to mention those or they take away my Geek cred)... I love horror movies like Romero's zombie movies, and everything from the campy funny ones, to the hide under the blanket till the sun comes up ones. I also love to laugh so comedies are great.. Basically I will give just about any movie a chance...

Television:

What do I watch when I have time for TV?? Heroes, Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis, Smallville, Farscape, Supernatural, Family Guy, South Park, Robot Chicken... I also like to catch shows like Dead Like Me, Attack of the Show, Alias, and the Discovery Channel and all the different science shows on it..

Books:

The Elegant Universe (Great book on String or M Theory), The Tao of Physics, the Wheel of Time books by Robert Jordan, the Harry Potter books, Anne Rice, Clive Barker, Geroge R. R. Martin, Tolkien, Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, R. Scott Bakker, books on Philosophy (like those by Sartre, Nietzsche, etc), Douglas Adams, etc.. I also like comics, the better stuff by DC, Marvel, independants like Dark Horse, etc. One of my favorites would be Neil Gaiman's work. I just love to read, we can leave it at that...

Heroes:

My Mom and Dad, who I love and miss very much since they now live in Florida. They left everything they ever knew and had in Cuba, without a penny to their name, after working 3 years in separate labor camps, to get out of a country that was going to a bad place, just so their children could live a good safe life full of opportunity. Thanks Mom and Dad.
