About Me

I edited my profile at Doobix.com
Myspace LayoutsKingston District 13, Jamaica has produced some of reggaes most prolific vocalists. Maxfield Park a/k/a Michael Palmer is one of those vocalists. Inspired by his neighbor, Leroy Smart, Palmer began his career singing on the Stereophonic Sound. The sound system featured General Echo, Flux and owner Big John, who were all killed in 1980 following a shooting incident in Kingston. Working with producer Oswald Thomas, Palmer's debut release, "Mr. Landlord", faltered and with the demise of the sound system he maintained a low profile. By 1983 he was back in the studio with Jah Thomas, who had enjoyed success with Triston Palma, resulting in the release of "Ghetto Dance" with Jim Brown and "Different Love". A number of recordings followed with a variety of producers, including King Jammy, Sugar Minott and Joseph "Joe Joe" Hookim. Palmer's career began to prosper and while Aswad were recording in Jamaica they utilized Palmer's voice for the release of "Me Nah Run". By the mid-80s his career was firmly established. He enjoyed number 1 hits in Jamaica with "Lickshot", and Ready Me Ready his appearance at the Reggae Sunsplash festival was one of the high points of the event. Numerous albums followed and those producers that did not have enough material to release a complete set compiled duo artist sets. As is often the case when a glut of material becomes available, interest began to dwindle and a lean period followed. He decided to test his production skills and enjoyed a smash hit with "Haul And Pull Up" by Neville Brown. Palmer returned in fine style by the early 90s with a condemnation of licentiousness with the single "Juggling", and alternatively, "Everyone Makes Love". Palmer has recently returned to the studio and has released Lying Lips and the anticipated Kingston 13 produced by Ed Robinson.Michael PalmerDISCOGRAPHYLickshot (Powerhouse 1982), Showdown Volume 4 (Empire/Hitbound 1984), with Frankie Jones Angelia (Vista 1984), Star Performer (Tonus 1984), Wicked - Michael Palmer Meets Johnny Osbourne (Vibes & Vibes 1985), Pull It Up Now (Greensleeves 1984/85), I Am So Attractive (Jammys 1985), Double Trouble (Greensleeves 1985), with Frankie Paul We Rule (Power House 1985), Chucky No Lucky (Vista 1985), Michael Palmer Meets Kelly Ranks At Channel One (Dancefloor 1985), Joint Favourites (Greensleeves LP 1986/CD 1995), with Half Pint Im Still Dancing Showcase (Midnight Rock 198_), Triston Palma Meets Michael Palmer (Midnight 1982-84).APPEARS ONDouble Trouble General For All General Grapevine Records Vault Classics Vol. 1 Hidden Treasures Hidden Treasures Vol. 2 Joint Favourites Lets Go To The Blues Midnight Rock Classics Vol. 1 Party Sounds Presents Worries In The Dance Presenting The Posse Vol. 1 Presenting The Posse Vol. 1 & 2 Presenting The Posse Vol. 2 Ready When You Dub Two Ready When You Ready Showdown Vol. 4 Sly & Robbie Presents The Unmetered Taxi Triston Palma Meets Michael Palmer Trojan Dancehall Box Set Trojan Eighties Box Set Trojan Jamaica Box Set Waterhouse Revisited Waterhouse Revisited Chapter 2 When The Dances Were Changing Wicked Wicked A Go Feel It
