J. Clark Promotions, Inc. was started as a company primarily engaged in New Orleans area Mardi Gras activities in 1976. Company founder, James A. Clark saw the need for useful items to be produced for the Mardi Gras celebration and introduced plastic coasters with organizations logos printed on them. Soon after, these clubs approached the company about doing other items for them including Frisbees, souvenir cups, bikinis and other special favor items.The company was incorporated on September 27, 1982 and the following year was selected by the U.S. Department of the Interior as the Official Licensee for the Golden Anniversary of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. While far from a financial success, the selection gave the company national exposure.In 1985, the company moved into a 6,000 square foot office / warehouse facility in Metairie, Louisiana. It was here that the company quadrupled in sales over the period from 1986 through 1991. The focus of the company changed from being a local Mardi Gras krewe supplier, to a nationally known wholesaler of a multitude of leading product lines. In 1987, the company became the first manufacturer in the United States of a new process of decorating souvenir cups, called “foil embossing†which allowed dark colors of cups to be adorned with various designs.In July of 1992, the company moved into a new 15,000 square foot office / warehouse / manufacturing facility in Elmwood Industrial Park. It was here that a growth spurt resulted due to contacts with large national companies. Starting in 1992 and continuing for 10 years, The Company produced the immensely popular Mardi Gras Collector Cards. In 2005 we began a personalized cup program that allows for us to produce personalized cups in quantities as low as 50 cups for parties, birthdays, weddings, graduations and many other occasions.Not only have the facilities grown, but also the number of full, part-time and seasonal employees has grown. On December 15, 2000 the company dedicated a new 22,000 square foot warehouse and container unloading facility. In the months after being hit by Hurricane Katrina we added an additional 10,000 square to our office / warehouse. The 2006 Mardi Gras season was a huge boost for the city of New Orleans and the whole Gulf Coast region. We at J.
