Graziano Staino was born in Florence in 1972.From 1991 to 1994 he studies at the Fine Arts Academy of his city. During the final year of his studies he is afflicted with a very rare congenital disease of the retina. Despite the fact that his vision deteriorates rapidly, he moves to New York where he works as a painter & artist.In 1999, on his return to Italy, his first video entitled "MOKA" is presented. He also paints illustrations and cartoons for several national magazines.In 2000, Staino made some short films for the "Poetronica" project headed by Carlo Isola.Around 2002, he starts working on his first musicvideos and the short film entitled "Oblivian". It is in these works that the features for which he is renowned and identified first came to the fore; monochromatic images with strong contrasts and unusually rare definition.In 2003 Staino starts using the chroma-key technique and fuses biological materials with artificial in his short film "the last tears from planet earth". In the years to follow he decides to embrace a larger project and, together with Giovanni Antignano, founds Blindvision, which can be defined as one fo the first collective virtual galleries.In 2005 he contacts Enrico Ghezzi for the first time. Thanks to Ghezzi, it is the beginning of his collaboration with Donatello Fumarola & Fulvio Baglivi, co-authors of the programme "Fuori Orario" (Cose Mai Viste - things never seen before). Fuori Orario will then transmit his works. Staino founds the audio-video production company Fuoriorbita.com and then produces and directs the recording "Pig Maglione Roma 'N'cess" and the short "Ofelia", "TV dream", "Poise" and lastly "minute stanze". In the same year he also goes into theatre and directs the show "INAUS" by the Gogmagog Theatre Company.In 2006 he produces the documentary "Ophelia's look" (lo sguardo di Ofelia) and also directs the" Ofelia Festival" for the town of Agliana as well as other musical and theatre productions. (The festival will then continue in the years following).In 2007 a further video and cinematographic event is born: "16mm Film Festival", which presents black & white film works. After this he produces the shortfilm "Untitled" fand the musicvideo "l'orgia" for the Florentine band Diaframma.In 2008 he links up to the rock group Afterhours and produces musicvideos exclusively for them.Graziano Staino lives and works in Florence. Soon out will be his new shortfilm "Praying Mantis", the book "Sogno Lucido" and the new portal framental.com for video streaming.
