Withered Tree

About Me

Reviews:
"Withered Tree was next to rock the stage. Covering 'Crazy Nights', they are one of the bands on the night with flair. A couple of new faces, an addition to the band, the vocalist managed to pull the crowd out of their seats, to the stage front and bang their heads to the set. Marvelous. "

".....Withered Tree performed, I have to give them credit for great showmanship. There was not a second lack of enthusiasm from the band...Withered tree's performance was pretty damn engaging i thought, even tho they were first on stage "

Bio:
Withered tree started off in early 2004 under the name of Desolate. They later changed their name to Withered Tree in 2005. Originally, the band's line up consisted of Shyam Raj on Vocals, Angsari on Lead / rhythm guitars, Jason on Drums, Roman on Rhythm guitars and Darren on Bass guitars.
These 5 members came together from very different backgrounds, to form a Grunge Rock/Metal act composing heavy sounding songs with progressive elements as well as lyrics based on political affairs and the Stratagem of life itself. With influences from bands such as Tool, Alice in chains, Pantera & Black Sabbath, Soundgarden and Led Zeppelin, they have played at Aloha Changi, Hard rock Café, Singapore Polytechnic, Prince of Wales, Hougang mall, Gas Haus Velvet Revolution and more. To top it of, Withered Tree also did a mind-blowing Alice in chains cover of Man in the Box at Crazy Elephant Blues Bar. They have also been featured on an interview on Heat Wave Radio at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. There, they also performed an unplugged set for the students of the Polytechnic.
After a few lineups changes, Withered Tree is now embarking on its musical zenith as a 4 man band, consisting of Shyam Raj on Vocals, Brandon Gan on Guitars, Darren Toh on Bass and Jason Cruz on Drums. And with covers and originals that will set your chakras in alignment and keep you banging your head for more!! Withered Tree's greatest satisfaction is to see the crowd having a great time and unleashing the energy from the music being played. The band is currently working on their debut album as well as rehearsing for upcoming gigs in 2006-07. Living life by hard work, never-ending practice, (& not forgetting booze!) the band hopes to see a bright future and moreover, resurrecting the Grunge Rock/Metal scene in Singapore.
