The set is my canvas, the lamps are my brushes, and the light is my paint. My name is Hector Aranda and I am a filmmaker currently working professionally as a gaffer, chief lighting technician, lighting director (whatever you want to call it) on indie feature films and commercials in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I characterize myself as an observer, a voyeur, always watching the world pass by with all its colorful characters. I have an inquiring mind, I’m curious about everything and I’m drawn to anything that will expand my knowledge or enlighten me. I often question social conventions and why it’s almost a necessity to abide by them. I personally denounce many of them. I’m heavily influenced by all that is around me and all of it culminates in my writing in a profound manner. I enjoy creating, to be creative, and I express it through the artistic endeavors I involve myself in. I write screenplays, design websites, develop 2D motion graphics, light narrative films, photograph still images, and cinematography.
I’m very driven with my aspirations and goals lying in the film industry. My pinnacle that I plan to reach is in professional writing and cinematography; why not throw in directing as well. I’m fascinated by world history, astronomy, psychology, literature, and many other subjects. I’m respectful of people’s perspectives and open to new views, but there is also a time for my opinions to be accepted.
