About Me

FADE IN OVER BLACK:
"A director makes only one movie in his life. Then he breaks it into pieces and makes it again."
INT. HOTEL ROOM - UNION SQUARE - NIGHT
Who am I? Well not a director.. I am an editor, just thought that the quote has some emotional depth and some truth to it. One grows into directing, not vice versa!
So.. Dino I am, I am Dino. Needless to say, I switch countries every 10 years or so. Sometimes I refuge because I cannot help it (cause some idiots thought it would be a good idea to start a war in Bosnia), and sometimes simply because I am fed up on the routine in my every day life. Exodus out of neccessity, or simple hunt for pleasure in adventure.
I am born into a nomadic lifestyle, and I am also a believer in the fact that out of hardship comes creativity. Or as Nietzsche would say: "I tell you: one must have chaos in one, to give birth to a dancing star..."
I am not a routine person, which means that I am creative. When I make my 8am latte, I never make it same way twice. Inconsistency is what I am best at because I know that I can do something by the book, and therefore don't need to prove you, nor anyone else, once again, that I can do something... I am my own hero.
There is something about horizontal lines that I like as well. As in ending scene of "A bout de souffle" (1960), I strive for running towards the beach, and swimming towards the never reaching horizon that signifies freedom. I am a beach person. A beach vagabundo. A beach bitch!
Music occupies large part of my life, and music builds a Chinese wall between my ego and everyday problems we face. It makes me happy by escaping the bullshit for a brief moment. Music for me is 14 shots of tequila at a grimy Tijuana local bar.. it beats you unconcious (double meaning).
Other than that, I welcome happy people in my life. People with a sense of humor beyond the knock-knock jokes, which can be funny when you haven't slept for 3 days. I welcome intellectuals and streetsmart people who have something out of ordinary to say. At my best, I can be highly sarcastic so deal with it, or deal yourself another set of cards.
I speculate, I study, and I analyze, and even though some shit makes sense to my own persona, sometimes I find it hard communicating - which is the reason I am an editor. I use the word "fuck" very often, not because I watched to many Italian mafia movies, but simply because the word "fuck" is the only word in English that can radically emphasize the meaning of what you are trying to argue. Call it primitive or call it unoriginal, I couldn't care less.
