Bogme, aka Chris Elsbree, began playing music when he was 13 years old. After hearing "Take The Power Back", by Rage Against The Machine, he decided to pick up a bass guitar. A good friend Brian Wolff and his brother Mike (R.I.P. and never forgotten) helped Bogme start his first band called HardNova, in which he played bass and shared lead vocals. It was during this time that he found his mothers old accoustic guitar in their basement, and began to teach himself how to play. Three years, 2 CD's, and 35 shows later, it was time for Bogme to part ways with HardNova, and started playing music with life-long friend and guitarist Dylan England. Their search for a band ended when Cais Jurgens moved to Apalachin, NY, and the three decided to start a real band together. When a drummer was not able to be found, Bogme decided to teach himself how to play on an ancient knockoff drum kit that had been left in their practice space. Soon after, good friend Brian Coyne was added on lead vocals, and The Swinging Field was born.
A well-lived 2 years was had by The Swinging Field, including 2 released CD's, one of them being a full length, self-titled LP, and a vast multitude of shows that was ended with one final summer tour in 2006. It was during this time that Bogme began to work on his singing more extensively, as well as his drumming, and solidified his ability to do both at the same time. This, along with leading the tenor section of his high school select choir, opened Bogme up to a whole new aspect of music that he fell in love with - harmony. He sang back-up vocals in The Swining Field as he drummed, and always strived for more interesting and well thought out harmonies, and to this day takes great pride in his understanding of the art of harmonized notes.
The conclusion of The Swinging Field was also the birth of another new era in Bogme's musical career, as he now attends the SUNY Fredonia School Of Music for Music Performance on Percussion. Bogme has begun to teach himself to play the piano and has also been building his guitar abilities to be able to play more intricate parts. In his first week of attending the school, a new band was started with Dylan and Cais, who are also attending the school, and new friends Jon Gernhart and BC Mostyn called Longitude, which he plays drums and shares lead vocals with all other band members. Bogme has honed in on his songwriting abilities since starting at the school, and has proven it with 14 new original songs written by him, that will appear on his first solo CD entitled "...And Friends" that will be independently released in 2007.
"...And Friends," titled for the vast amount of help he recieved from those closest to him, contains 13 main tracks as well as a bonus track that were composed and recorded primarily in Bogme's dorm room late 2006 to early 2007. The albums greatest strength will most likely be considered it's variety, as the songs range in style from the present day accoustic popular music, to older, folky tunes, to more ambient, mood-rock. The songs from "...And Friends" are honest, thoughtful, and sure to harmonize the socks off of you. Be sure to look out for this album at Bogme shows as well as Longitude shows in 2007.
