OCTAVA

About Me

OCTAVA was born in Richard Conrad’s basement in 2002. On guitar, he accompanied Mars Horodyski’s sultry, smokey, jazzy vocals as the band’s original sound began to take shape. Rounding out the group on bass, Tom Sertsis provided a solid foundation for the band’s personal blend of Soul, Funk, Jazz and Folk.
In early 2004, drummer Dylan Broda joined the band. The impact on the trio’s repertoire was instantaneous as his combination of Latin and Funk rhythms not only solidified the group’s catalogue of danceable tunes, but also steered OCTAVA in a brand-new direction… PARTY CENTRAL!
The band would go on to perform in-and-around their home town of Toronto at such venues as Sneaky Dees, the Savannah Room, Mitzi's Sister, the Supermarket, Stones Place and the legendary Cameron House. They’ve shared the stage with the likes of Room Eleven, Sarah Siddiqui, the Reverend Johns, and Indie troubadour Craig Cardiff.
OCTAVA has just released a 'live-off-the-floor' demo, with a full-length album planned for the fall. Stay tuned, because the band is looking to make its mark at home and abroad in 2007!
