He picked up the six-string at the age of nine, though he would spend nearly a decade playing bass in rock bands throughout his native Midwest. He landed in New York City during the height of the glam metal ‘80s and resumed his guitar playing with a band called CC Star, that made its debut at the hallowed CBGB’s. After years on the club circuit, some touring, plenty of demos, and no luck landing a good label offer, “I wanted to take a stab at writing and producing everything from the ground up.” He left New York to spend some time on the L.A. music scene, and eventually landed in Tampa Bay, Florida. “All of these components have led me to a place musically that I can see is a unique, and perhaps truly original signature,” he says of Portrait Audio Emotion. With newfound freedom to develop his own musical vision “rather than having five musical interpretations of it,” Carmicle had no problem coming up with original material. He finds inspiration in everything from “that white fuzzy electrostatic space that some of us see right before falling asleep, to those moments while doing the most common of things when you suddenly find yourself far removed and catatonic, cornered by the color of your own vision.” With Portrait Audio Emotion, is pleased to finally be able to share his work with a wider audience.
