About Me

I'm an artist, a mother, a wannabe gym rat and an undeniable smart ass. That's Carrie in a nutshell. Right now, I'm on a personal journey to get my health back, and am working hard to make it happen.
I'm not fond of excuses, whining or drama. Those three things have no place in my life right now.
I try to add several new paintings a week, so there is always something new to see. Special commission are welcomed. Just send me a message and we can discuss what you're looking for.
As an artist and a mother, I am blessed. Now I'm taking some time to focus on my body, my health, and my spirit by leading a weight loss support group.
ANYONE can create positive change in their life. Anyone can make their bodies healthier. There are people everywhere with excuse after excuse after excuse. And you know what? They can keep making those excuses. I can't here them anyway, I've got my iPod on and I'm too busy sweating!

And to anyone who is scared of letting go and making a career as an artist... put aside a bit of emergency money and then go at it full on! What a gift to give your family... the knowledge that it's OK to follow your dreams.
I am a self-representing artist, so my work can be found .. at www.carriefalquist.com & http://stores.ebay.com/Original-Modern-Art-By-FALQUIST, .

I'm also on this mission to find a bunch of people I went to high school with.... feeling nostalgic for home, I guess.

Music:

I like pretty much anything, from Il Divo to Skinny Puppy. Depending on mood, I'll listen to all kinds of music. Of course, having a three year old, a lot of my listening choices are limited, but right now we switch between Hair Nation and Kidstuff on my Sirius Radio. It's sad when your three year old calls 80's hair bands "mommy music" Ha!

Movies:

I LOVE movies, and will watch anything. If it's horrible, I'll watch it that one time. If it's fantastic, I'll probably buy it and watch it dozens of times. I love romantic comedies, action/adventure, horror, you name it.

Television:

Nip/Tuck, Grey's Anatomy, House, Biggest Loser, Desperate Housewives, Oprah, Friday Night Lights, What Not to Wear, Intervention

Books:

All the Numbers, The Handmaid's Tale, Me and Emma, Anything by Nora Roberts, John Sandford's "Lucas Davenport" detective series, cookbooks, books on health and fitness, I am reading the YOU series by Dr. Oz and Dr. Rosenberg, which is a good primer to remind you how to take care of your body.
Oh, and an author I started reading this fall as a result of the preschool program my daughter is in, Jim Fay. He has written a number of child-rearing guides, the basis of which formes the model for our preschool program. It works wonderfully with spirited or strong-willed children like my firstborn.

Heroes:

Women (and men) who have the courage to leave their comfort zone and do something they love. I respect loving parents, people who are involved in their communities, and of course, anyone who supports the arts!

People who have stuck to a lifestyle change and gotten their bodies and their minds healthy again
