About Me

"It´s very difficult for me to classify my music in a specific genre because there are so many influences. In any case it derives from hip hop music although I´m not a classic hip hop artist. As I started producing my own beats I wanted to do instrumental music. Telling little stories with some simple beats without any raps. That was and is my intention. The stories are mostly about contradictions and conflicts. For that purpose I often create songs in the same manner. Starting with a peaceful mellow basic beat that leads into some crazy ass breakbeats or some low budget drum and bass patterns. My equipment is: computer, mpc, fender rhodes, hohner elektra piano, several vintage synths, record player and of course records. Although owning several instruments, my great passion is sampling. I love listening to old records for digging. I love to combine Herbie Hancock with King Crimson. I love to mix up Doris Day with some cheesy guitars from italian 60s trash movies. Although electronic music is full of technology and often more mathematics than music, I try to keep a kind of jamming character in my production process. That means as little edits and recording takes as possible. I don´t care about hum, clicks and crackles in samples. It´s part of the record so it becomes part of my music. Allowed imperfection and contradiction subtley boxed in beats. That´s how I would summarize my tunes. Keepin´ it analog! Keepin´ it human! Keepin´ it real! Construction and destruction! Day and night! Diem & Darquo!!!"
