DeVale

DeVale Simmons known as Pastor "D" is the current Youth Director at St. Johns United Methodist Church located in the heart downtown Houston. His goal is to touch the hearts of urban youth who have been broken mentally, physically, economically, socially, and spritiually. This anointed, young man of God has turned St. John's United Methodist Church's youth ministry around in less than 3 months. This inner city urban church has a roster of 900 youth on it. Pastor "D," as the kids call him, has more than half of them participating in activies again. His brand of minisrty has been dubbed; "street oriented" since it reaches urban youth at their point of need. DeVale tells the truth as how he came to know Christ. "I got saved in the front seat of a car on my way back from a college football game. In the mist of all the weed, drinking, and partying, God; for the first time capture my heart on the side of 45 highway in route back to Prairie View A&M and my life has never been the same." He's been honoring Him ever since. With his tattoos, and mix of street sense, Pastor DeVale prokes the youth to live life the way God intended. He can often be heard saying, "I'll do whatever it takes to bring youth to Chirst!" Given his charisma and leadership, it's only a matter of time before Pastor DeVale Simmons will be able to brand his preaching style and youth ministry development to churches across the country. You can find DeVale each week in the KNOWLES/ROWLAND CENTER 4 YOUTH (donated by Beyonce Knowles & Kelly Roland) located on of the campus of St. John's UMC Downtown teaching, provoking, and ministring life to urban youth.
