About Me
jackie misfit : dj : producer : vocalist : London based dj and vocalist, jackie misfit was inspired by music at an early age. owning her first keyboard at six she soon realised her life's passion and went on to graduate from the conservatorium of music as an accomplished vocalist and pianist. her yearning to express her music in all it's forms led her to a variety of bands and instruments until finally finding her place on the dance floor. in 1999 she moved to london and went straight to the underground acid and techno scene playing along with Chris Liberator and Henry Cullen (Dave the Drummer) but her eclectic knowledge and experience saw her involved in a whole variety of projects from forming an experimental electro/rock/d&b band called 'purity', writing music with the likes of my digital soul and acrylic airways, producing a film soundtrack, studying production and sound engineering, collaborating with artists on various other projects and occasionally stopping to breathe. despite all this, her heart always drew her back to electronica with influences such as dj hell, dave clarke, the hacker, Ritchie Hawtin, Trentemoller and many more. her first residencies at mfm's chemical warfare and antiworld started her deeper love, appreciation and manipulation of techno which naturally brought her to the attention of Darren C and ultraplay, Zapatilla, Grappig and Armusic. along side her new electronic, minimal band 'def by disco' which plays electro minimal techno along with Darc Marc and Ed Raylton - live, over which she sings! she now also enjoys a monthly residency djing to one of london's most discerning dance crowds who have fallen for her exuberance, charm and unfaltering enthusiasm as well as the unnervingly surgical yet fluid mixing style she's developed. misfit has ultimately crafted her own sublime form to project, seek, thrill - and fill, every space on the dance floor creating one of the most immersive experiences to be had - without getting too wet.
