Dan Asselin

Everyone looks like young Bob Dylan to me.

About Me

I've been writing songs here and there since I was about fifteen years old, but it wasn't until I discovered a few classic Dylan albums and a rare track by John Lennon (Watching the Wheels -- acoustic) that I really started to put it all together as a songwriter. I moved around in Brooklyn for two years and decided the city wasn't the place for me at this point in my life. Now I'm living in Long Beach, commuting into the city for school, to play shows, and also to catch the performances of a few of my favorite singer/songwriters like Wakey!Wakey!, Chelsea Lynn La Bate, Darwin Deez, Casey Shea, Paul Basile, Tom Hayes and others.
I owe whatever progress I have made in the the last year to monday nights at Sidewalk Cafe (Lach and Joie/DBG) and to all those committed to the Antifolk, Local Correspondents and Jezebel communities who have empowered me with confidence and support in the last year. I'm planning on home-recording an album of 10-12 songs in the next six months.
As for the music, I know who my influences are: Jeremy Enigk, Eddie Vedder, Elliott Smith, Fiona Apple, Bob Dlyan, and John Lennon.
a bunch of new live tracks on the way!
Sincerely,
Dan Asselin
