About Me

ATTENTION: MY ABILITY TO SEND OUT MAIL MESSAGES OR MAKE FRIEND REQUESTS IS CURRENTLY ***STILL*** BROKEN (no eta from Myspace yet what the problem is) SO IF YOU NEED TO REACH ME, EMAIL [email protected]. I AM STILL RECEIVING FRIEND REQUESTS, I JUST CAN'T SEND THEM OUT, JUST AS I CAN RECEIVE MAIL BUT NOT REPLY. Thanks and hopefully, I'll be able to request you as friends again and reply to messages soon.
NEW INFO: The NEXT review is coming up quick-- IN FACT SO QUICK WITH SO LITTLE TIME, WITH THE NEW WRITING GIG, THAT REVIEWS WILL NOW BE POSTED BETWEEN LATE SUNDAY AND MONDAY (this also allows me to include stuff I might go see over the weekend), humor articles will still be posted mid-week to late week, if or basically, as they are written... so please keep sending in heads-ups on groups and singers, it really does help!!!!...ESP! As always, I need help and pointers to an undiscovered (relatively) talent as well as an up and coming rock or indie band AND (BIG "AND" HERE) an ARTIST(painter, sculpter, actor, dancer, dance group, photographer, lighting designer, cinematographer, indie film, multi-mediast..etc.)... Finding Artists on MySpace is difficult so ANY HELP is appreciated!! ...if you have any pointers, be my friend and send me a heads up...one sticking point, they need to have a myspace webpage (or some professional page) so that I can hear or see their work and can point readers to them during the review...and those who are already part of my friend network will get more serious consideration than others but it's not a requirement...thanks!!!

My goal is 1 million friends (and there's nothing wrong with a goal like that, is there??...and besides, it means I get to meet great new people that I wouldn't normally if they agree to add...which is wonderful!) and all artists, musicians, dancers, actors, writers, animators, scifi & tech gods, AND FANS OF ALL the previous, including Media Fanatics of all sorts, and so on!--all banded together to talk and help promote more interest in great new groups, artists and the arts! We can prove you don't need connections to some media bigwig to make a difference and help great new work be seen and heard!
If you're an artist (music, dance, visual, etc.) in the Seattle-Tacoma area, and will be showing or performing, please let me know the dates, time and location/venue.(costs, etc, too) I'd like the chance of hearing you or seeing your work. If I like it, I'll write about it in the hopes that others will go and take a look/listen as well.

P.S. If You Get Spoofed in the Humor, that's a compliment. I only spoof public figures I like and admire (and only gently spoof them at that! It means you're very talented and that I expect great things from you!)
OH...AND...THE BEST WAY TO KNOW WHEN A NEW HUMOR OR REVIEW IS OUT IS TO SUBSCRIBE TO THE BLOG...NO NEED TO RECHECK THE SITE OR MISS A BULLETIN...BESIDES THE REVIEW COULD BE ABOUT YOU OR SOME GROUP/PERSON YOU LOVE. cheers!
humor/commentary blog:
AHA! BLOGOLICIOUS
website:
CG's WebCentral
PLEASE *TRY* TO KEEP IMAGES IN COMMENTS UNDER 200 by 200pixels please, and no foul language (edit yourself please) or you face comment hell (i.e. deletion)...though I do know that some of you are just enthusiastic about what you do and that's okay, or that you are doing auto-comments, which is also okay...if it gets too intrusive (or illegal sounding....or it has EMBEDDED stuff) it will just disappear, that's all...I WILL SEND OUT BULLETINS WHEN NEW REVIEWS OR HUMORS ARE POSTED ON THE AHA! BLOGOLICIOUS BLOGSITE. (i.e.... http://ahablogolicious.blogspot.com/) THANKS! so even if you're not an aspiring or professional artist but want to get the bulletins, join as a friend and welcome!I do read all my email though I don't read bulletins anymore because of the sheer number coming through, so the best way to reach me is through a myspace message/email.P.S. If you're NOT a local artist DON'T WORRY!, because...if you have work online somewhere, give me a heads up as I also do reviews on online portfolios as well even tho' it's more difficult but easier for people to see and access your work (especially visual arts)...
WHY?
mainly to get people to see your work...or listen to your music...or etc...and I love fusion of different forms of art/music/dance/tech/etc. So keep those heads ups coming and be my friend! Let me hear from you! There is so much out there it takes a network like this to find all the great new talents out there!

My Interests

everything but especially new media, old media, media, literature, science fiction, science fact, art, dance, film/tv, acting, writing, dreaming, convergence, technology, Flash programming, animation, gadgets, the X-Games
(watching, not doing...I'm a sports klutz and would probably die if I tried that stuff!), human beings and culture, wine,
gourmet cooking
(though since I became a vegetarian and went on a diet, I haven't been cooking or even eating much, and certainly nothing overly interesting...sigh...)

I'd like to meet:

YOU!!!! My goal is 1 million friends! (yes, I really mean it, please help!) If you do or love music, art, tv, film, theatre, dance, comics, humor, animation, science fiction, new media, old media, technology or anything to do with new media convergence...then I want to meet you...add yourself now as a friend! And tell your other friends in the same vein to join, too! I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

Oh, and no, that's not my real age (my pics are all fairly current but I know better than to tell my real age online)....I just want to play around with it and find out how many of those auto-add marketing messages I get...with 99 I didn't get any, which is a relief. I mean what would they send me? "Funeral home ads? Dentures? How to chew your own food again?" brrr....

If I've already requested you as a friend, and you can't figure out why, then believe me, I look at every profile...something you said, did, drew, painted, sang, danced, commented that you liked, etc. well...it made me intrigued and that's why I asked you. (and yes, sometimes it's just selfish, like you mentioned you liked the same person as me, or tv show or were simply a music, dance, etc fan...in some cases, your tagline or name was just so cool, I couldn't help myself!)

How did I find you? Usually, virally. Following the top friends links of others already on the friends list...and occasionally down their top friends lists. Usually, a profile image will spark my attention first (be it a band picture or an artistic rendering, etc.) I also find people based on searches (their interests, etc.) It's a long, long, long, tedious process, but it ensures that I look at every profile once I find something interesting, even if not everything downloads because of my dialup connection, which I use for the 10 second rule on most sites--video sites are excluded from that rule.

It goes a lot faster if you find me first...SO PLEASE FIND ME FIRST!! And it's easier for me to remember you when I'm looking at which groups to check out for a review (depending on the theme in that blog review.) and need I mention that if you do get a write up, then if your friends are already joined, they'll get the bulletin and can pass it on to their friends...and their friends...and so on? That's one way of getting your message out to current friends and to new ones...aka fans, contacts, etc...letting them discover your talent as well as having FANS bring you to all of our attention HERE??...
And yes, the humor is just to give you a chuckle now and again...a way of saying THANKS for being there!

So join as a friend now and get the bulletins when new Reviews or new Humor/Spoofs or new Flash mini-games/vids are posted.

I'm looking forward to meeting you and hearing from you!

My personal goal is to reach 100, then 1000, then 10,000, then 100,000, then 1 million friends on this network--all artists, musicians, media, techies and fans alike--and everyone getting a chance to discover some great new group or artist or cool new gadget or thing...so that even the people without the connections can get to be heard, discovered and appreciated...and no, I don't get paid one cent for this, I do this and the blog on my own time and because I simply love media in all its forms...and since I'm scrounging around for a new job right now, there's plenty of time...

Why? well, I worked at Microsoft for a time and that gave me the chance to go out on my own and try to make my own way...but that's not all it's cracked up to be and while I love the creative/techie/customer side of things, I suck at the sales person/run your own business side...which is my fault if I fall flat and no one elses. But it means that Little Dogs Media may stay a hobby while I try to find writing gigs or even "attention K-Mart shoppers" if need be! Life can definitely be interesting and scary sometimes...but it was worth it to be out on my own and at least trying!!

So having a million net friends also keeps me cheered up...and let's me try to help others out there who also took the risk and tried to do it on their own.

So, will you help me achieve that? And thanks, no matter what!
100 Reached!--whahoo! thank you so much!
1000--yes!!!! YES!!!! YESSSS!!! THANK YOU!!!!
5000--YES YES YES THANK YOU on to 10,000 friends!!!
10000--?

Music:

yes, Torn, SexyBack, American Pie, One, Paint It Black, etc. and on and on and on...

Movies:

yes, way to many to list!

Television:

yes, and my favorite actors are Gordon Michael Woolvett and Keith Szarabajka (yes, that means all sci fi, including Andromeda...and great drama's like The Equalizer!)
AND I admit to being a huge fan of "So You Think You Can Dance!" and of therefore, Benji Schwimmer, Travis Wall, Heidi Groskreutz, Donyelle Jones, Ivan Koumaev, Natalie Fotopoulos, Allison Holker, Ryan Rankine, Martha Nichols and Dimitry Chaplin and all of them, actually!
And other fun stuff like My Name Is Earl, Eureka!, Dead Like Me, Firefly, The Tick, Red Dwarf, Monty Python, Black Adder, Who's Line Is It Anyway (USA and UK versions),Six Feet Under, Dancing with the Stars, Star Trek, Stargate, Forever Knight, Starsky & Hutch (Or is that Studsky and Hatch?), Tripping the Rift, The O.C., Supernatural, Tyra's America's Next Top Model, Nero Wolfe, Combat!, CSI, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Criminal Minds, Grey's Anatomy, Ellen, SNL, Dr. Who, Dave the Barbarian (I love Disney, I admit it!!), Futurama, and even Dateline!
Even Allo! Allo!, Coupling (UK version) and The Red Green Show (yes, I admit that I'm a dork, I like the Red Green show)
...too many to list...

Books:

yes, everything from sci fi to Faulkner!

Heroes:

WHY I DO THIS
You're my heroes...all unsung or trying to be heard!
I want to do this because of all the great people out there, FANS of media included, that don't get the recognition they deserve!
I've been asked a few times now why I do this and why I invited someone who doesn't see themselves as an artist to be my friend.
One, because I want and need friends. The ones I have don't really get why I like the stuff I do and even give me a hard time about it. So, it's nice to be able to go somewhere where there are people who do understand and like the same things...I'm sure I'm not alone here in feeling that. (or am I? uh uh!)
Second, because I'm tired of all the great artists out there that don't get a chance to be seen or heard...they don't have a relative in the business and no connections. Musicians have it hard enough but other artists, like painters, sculpters, actors, writers and dancers and so forth have it even worse. Perhaps dancers have it the worst of all.
I think that if we all work together and share information on new artists and what they are doing, and try to generate some interest and excitement about The Arts, in general, then a lot of great new talent will emerge...and the big media giants will have to take notice and not just go with 'sure fire cuz they're already famous' winners or 'uncle fred's cousin's kid' type of people.
(I have nothing against sure-fire or uncle fred's relatives but, come on!...what about all the great talents that get their dreams killed because no one will listen to them! That's not fair! And yes, I still believe life should be fair...I'm an optimist.)
I believe that everyone will benefit and maybe more people will take an interest in all sorts of different media...shows like So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing With The Stars and American Idol prove that point, but so do sci fi shows, dramas that take new media risks, using iPods for broadcasts/minicasts and all that cool new tech/animation/gadget stuff...
So I just think it needs to be encouraged as well as encouraged to be more expansive and open (not just 16-29 year old contestants and not just 14-21 year old middle income/upper middle, middle-america target demographics.)
OK, off the soapbox...as you can see I get really excited about this...and about technology, too...yes, I'm a sci fi and tech dork...but I believe it's all linked together (art, music, media, tech, etc.) It's all converging and there are more commonalities than differences. And the more you appreciate all art forms, and tech, the better you get, the wider perspective you have, and the more outstanding it shows in your own work (artistic, technical or anything.)
Though I'm not expecting "So You Think You Can Program Flash" anytime soon on your nearest TV station! :)
