Fausto Talone was born on November 15th 1970 in Amsterdam, the hometown of his mother. His father comes all the way from Rome,
Italy, which explains the fact that Fausto lives in The Netherlands,
but listens to a 100% Italian name.
Clubs, parties and housemusic
At the age of 17 he discovered the world of clubs, parties and housemusic, which had just started to reach Holland, coming across the ocean from the great clubs in New York, Chicago and Detroit. Soon he was addicted to the Vibe called housemusic and started to go to houseparties more often. Then something happened to him that happens to all true DJ’s at a certain moment: he got fascinated by the guy standing in front of the partypeople and playing his favourite tunes; Tha Vibe struck on him. Ladies and gentlemen:
DJ Fausto …
He started practicing with some old turntables (even one without pitchcontrol) and a Rodec-mixer at age 19, but one of the most important occurrences of his life happened when he was 20 years young: DJ Dano (member of Holland’s worldfamous DJ-Dreamteam) asked him to come and spin in his show The Grooveyard at the legendary radiostation Radio 100. Things went really well and soon he started playing at local coffeeshops and small parties. In the meantime he bought his first set of Technics SL turntables. He developed his mixing skills further and further and his performance also got better with every gig he had. Fausto’s mother told him not only to spin music, but also to listen to it very carefully and analyse all parts of a record. At this point his producing talent started to grow on him, because subconsciously he learned how music is arranged. The Big Breakthrough:His first big performance was in De Statenhallen in The Hague during Trance In Your Mind in 1994, he was booked to be on one lineup together with DJs like Michel de Hey and Carl Cox. After that Fausto received his first bookings in the U.K. from clubs like Brixton Academy, The Fridge and Tyssen Street.Becoming a professional DJ, Fausto did a tour around Ibiza in the summer of 1994, playing at all the big clubs on the world’s most popular party-island. Fausto played Amnesia, The Ku and Club Space ,and rapidly started to make name for himself as a professional dj. After playing a lot of clubs around the world, Ibiza got back in touch with Fausto’s raving beats in 2002 when he hit the decks at HQ – Ibiza in Club Eden, where he was in the lineup with
Yoji Biomehanica. In 1995 Fausto played first on a lineup with Mark Sinclair (pendragon UK) and Alan T.G.(Torture Garden UK) at a Cyber XX Party (which was the first party ever to be broadcasted on the internet and by a Dutch talkshow). Everyone saw him conquer the dancefloor, including Mark and Alan. They were impressed by Fausto’s performance and with that in mind, they flew back to the U.K. Two months later Fausto received a call from Pendragon with the message that they wanted to let him play at their Pendragon-parties. These parties made him famous in the U.K. even before he built up the name he has nowadays in The Netherlands.Over the years he started to play at bigger parties which got him to the highest point he has reached so far: a residency at Holland’s biggest monthly harddance-clubnight: High Quality.Fausto has been a resident at the biggest and most longlasting clubnight of his homecountry. For 3,5 years now he has been one of the people who get to play frequently at De Melkweg during the always crowded High Quality parties. HQ is part of the big UDC-company and so all HQ-residents get to perform their skills on the HQ-stages at Impulz Festival (liveperformance of his track “Tha Vibe†in March 2003 during the last set of the evening), 4 Elements and the mother of all festivals Dance Valley (his DV-debut was in 2002) came along. Fausto even got to close down at the Dancevalley Miami-party during the Miami Winterconference in 2003.
And he even closed the Dance Valley Winter Edition last year, which was a mindblowing experience for Fausto aswell for the crowd. After this his name was established in Holland.High Quality decided to make HQ XL an annual happening and so the second XL edition was planned for November 13th 2004. Just like the first big edition of HQ, this party’s concept was to create a special back-to-back evening. With some very interesting back to back sessions, like Steve Hill vs JP, Organ Donors, Alex Kidd vs Dark by Design, but at 05:00 AM the moment was there: Fausto in a smashing back to back set with Tom Harding! These two guys blew the roof off of the venue, but what else would you expect from two of the leading guys of both Holland and England!Mix Compilations:Fausto is one of the lucky people who got to mix five retail cd’s.
After compiling and mixing two cd’s for the label Huizen Recorded
(one progressive- and one harddance-edition), he got to be the first DJ to mix an HQ cd after the very succesfull episodes mixed by Tom Harding and JP. The release was in February 2003, which was also accompanied by a releaseparty at HQ February.Later that year the president of the TX2-label asked him to do a 2cd release called TX2: Harddance mixed by DJ Fausto. This cd has had some great reviews in Holland on the country’s biggest party-site and in the ID&T-Magazine.HQ started a new concept called HQ On Tour. The HQ Vibe is now brought to partypeople throughout the whole country, so there had to be a cd-release alongside the tour. Fausto got the honour to compile and mix the Tour-disc and take credit for making even more people addicted to HQ.More then just a DJ:Most people only know Fausto the DJ but we are also getting more and more aquainted with Fausto the Producer.Producing and playing his own tunes has always been running through his veins, ever since he was a child. His first ever release was Soul Of Man, a white label. This was the track he started his set with at Impulz Indoor in December 2002. Alain Eskinazi was Fausto’s co-producer on this track. Alain won an Edison Award for his production skills and is also one of the people Fausto loves to work with. Additional info: Edison Awards are the biggest and most lucrative awards producers can receive in The Netherlands. The crowd received Fausto’s recent productions very enthousiastic. He was the one who got the honour of releasing the first record on HQ-Records last year: Tha Vibe hit the recordstores in May and sold out within a few months.Tha Vibe was also the anthem of the 100th HQ-party: HQ XL, held on October 10th 2003. At this party Fausto was teamed up with Yoji Biomehanika for an exclusive back to back set and what a team it was; they banged out the last hour and a half that night at the Ahoy’ Theatre in Rotterdam and made it a legendary performance. That’s also one of his advantages: because of his broad taste of music, he can adapt to almost every other DJ so a back to back set is never a problem for this man.Yoji was responsible for one of the most extravagant happenings in Fausto’s career. Fausto was a headliner on Impulz Outdoor Festival 2003 and had already played his set when Yoji arrived at the Impulz-site. Unfortunately for our Japanese friend, something went wrong: his recordbag had been left behind in Germany where he performed earlier that night. Fausto immediately lent his recordbag and headphone to Yoji, so the Biomehanika-man closed down the HQ-stage that year using Fausto’s records!Another track of his, was the anthem of one of 2004’s biggest outdoor-events: The Strike 1 Anthem. Strike 1 took place in De Kuip in Rotterdam also known as the stadium of footballclub Feyenoord. This anthem is also the leading track of the Strike 1-commercial which was broadcasted several times a day at primetime on Dutch television. The radio edit of this anthem was braodcasted by one of Holland’s biggest radiostations: Yorin FM.The Future:The future looks very bright. Producing more and more new material, Fausto developes his producing-skills every track he creates. A whole arsenal of new tracks are ready to find their way into the recordstores, as Fausto is very busy starting his own record-label XS-IF Records together with his co-producer Junior Rodgers. XS-IF will be launched in June 2005.JP is the main man behind Amsterdam’s biggest harddance-recordstore Grooveconnection and employed Fausto for about four years ago. Trough JP the Conceptbookings-crew found out about this and wanted to book Fausto immediately for an HQ-party, because he already made a name for himself in the UK, and he played the sound which fitted in the HO sound perfectly . Fausto played one of his famous sets and the HQ-story began for him. This resulted in the fact that JP became also one of Fausto’s studiopartners. They created some tracks in the past year which will be released in May or June 2005 on JP’s own label Super Nova Traxx (SNT). The Problem (containing a renowned sample of Indeep’s Last Night A DJ Saved My Life) and Hands reflect a combination of German Hardtrance and the worldfamous UK Hardhouse. These two productions will rock the dancefloor bigtime! One of Fausto’s own brandnew tracks will be remixed by the most popular harddance-dj of this moment: the Finnish DJ-superstar Proteus will give his own Finrg-spin to The Fan, a very uplifting hardtrancetrack at the speed of 156 BPM!Collaborating with all these talented producers made Fausto decide to expand his discography with some other projects. Working on new stuff with the worldfamous DJ Quicksilver from Germany and Holland’s hardtrance-talent no.1 Tommy Pulse, he tries to create a whole new foundation for more releases on vinyl. All these new creations will be released on a real artist-album which will be released at the end of 2005. The first of all Fausto’s new solo-productions will be released in april. A banging track called Hardcell is based on a wicked retro-tune, which already has proven itself on the dancefloor. The track contains a very massive break which is followed by a fresh sounding and energetic tune. Not only his own tracks were created in his studio, he also co-produced major anthems for artists like Bas & Ram: the massive hardtrancer called Big Mac will be released on the Straight On Recordings-label (former ID&T).In a nutshell:Fausto Talone a.k.a.
