Striving for 90% awesome

About Me

I like to be two standard deviations away from any given mean.

My Interests

Currently my top 5 interests (in order) are: football, fall season television selection, exercising, house hunting, organizing my timeRecently out: whitewater rafting; Just missed: blogging

I'd like to meet:

Preferably people who live in (and actually like) Oakland. But if you are fun and cool then I don't care what side of the bay you live on. I don't discriminate based on relative location to the bay.

Music:

Sometimes I play the saxophone. More often I just listen to a wide range of bands. Just got a new radio for my car and it is AWESOME! I got one that is iPod compatible so I'm finally using my iPod. Sort of. Sometimes. Occasionally. Okay I'm still not really! I'm addicted to my launch station. Right now I have The Chemical Brothers paused because I'm trying to transcribe an interview.

Movies:

Despite the lack of air conditioning, I especially enjoy movies at the Parkway over pizza and beer. I don't even care what movie really, except if it's Charlie's Angels 2: Full Throttle or Van Helsing--even a pitcher of beer can't save those movies. Last three movie seen at the Parkway or Cerrito: Leatherheads, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Hellboy 2.
My current top three hot male movie actors: Ed Norton, Dwayne Johnson, Christian Bale

Television:

I love television and I'm not afraid to admit it! The summer shows are winding down, so there's still space on my Tivo right now, but I'm using the time to clean up my season passes. The new 90210 is not so hot (especially the guys on it) and I'm only giving it one more episode. Glad to have Gossip Girl back though! One show I've banished is ANTM. I just can't do another season. Excuse me, "cycle."
Current top three hot male TV actors: Jeffrey Donovan on Burn Notice who at first seems skinny but when running around shooting things in a wife beater is surprisingly buff, David Boreanis on Bones because Booth is so hot and competent and makes you feel safe and supported, and James Roday on Psych who despite being a goofy character on a weak show is a total closet hottie with excellent comedic timing.

Books:

I used to read in the car at night by the streetlights but my mom said it would ruin my eyes so eventually I got a flashlight. I've read a lot of books. I re-read a lot of books. I can't play favorites with books. But I am happy to tell you which ones I don't like and why!

Heroes:

I can be your hero, baby. I can kiss away the pain. I will stand by you forever. You can take my breath away.

My Blog

whatever gets you through it

I like to think I am a fair and relatively unbiased person who decides who to vote for based on policies first, moral character second, and personality prejudices a distant third. But I admit that McC...

an indulgence in self-congratulation

In general I do not blog about my job/work/career on MySpace. It seems like one of the fundamental "don'ts" you know? But I am making an exception in order to celebrate a major personal...
