I confuse myself

About Me

myspace layouts :: Get this layout .I was born and raised in country NSW, Australia, with 11 brothers and sisters, but I was a considered to be 'a bit weird' because I liked classical and other alternative music from a very young age. I started learning piano at 8 yrs old, but I didn't stay with the lessons for long because my teacher (a catholic nun) used to wack me on the fingers with a ruler every time I made a mistake. I used to hide around the corner during my 'lesson time' and then copy what my sister had learnt during her lesson. It took a while for my parents to realise that I wasn't turning up to the lessons and promptly put an end to any further chances for me to learn. I took it into my own hands and much to my sisters disgust, I copied her. I performed in many concerts and eisteddfords as a teenager, and played for a few 'local balls' and charity events. Music was my escape from the world around me and has been my saving grace. It still has a powerful effect on my life and I now teach piano on a part time basis. I hope that I am able to pass on my passion for what is for me my spiritual connection and my lifeline.Apart from that, my other passion/s are photography and painting/drawing which I haven't done alot of since my camera/s were stolen and I have been working and teaching and don't have alot of time to do either. Here's a quote that is worth pondering:"As human beings we all want to be happy and free from misery. We have learned that the key to happiness is inner peace. The greatest obstacles to inner peace are disturbing emotions such as anger and attachment, fear and suspicion, while love and compassion, a sense of universal responsibility are the sources of peace and happiness."Dalai Lama

My Interests

Music, fine art, photography, Conservation and Animal Welfare, Human Rights, Yoga and Tai Chi, Alternative Medicine and Spirituality, Buddhism, Reading (especially books that delve into the human psyche, historical novels, fantasy and Science Fiction), movies especially British Humour such as the Monty Python Collection, Black Books and anything that contains black humour, travelling, antiques, yadda yadda yadda...

I'd like to meet:

You scored as Angel. Angel: Angels are the guardians of all things, from the smallest ant to the tallest tree. They give inspiration, love, hope, and positive emotion. They live among humans without being seen. They are the good in all things, and if you feel alone, don't fear. They are always watching. Often times they merely stand by, whispering into the ears of those who feel lost. They would love nothing more then to reveal themselves, but in today's society, this would bring havoc and many unneeded questions. Give thanks to all things beautiful, for you are an Angel.

Music:

Classical, especially piano & baroque period music. My taste in music has a very broad range and I am open to all sorts of music, so long as it 'hits the spot'! Some of my favourite musicians include Midnight Oil (because of their messages and their music), Enya, my friend Michael Trifunovic and his music with Aqualash, his own work and others (check him out on MySpace), Cat Stephens, Richard Cheese, Apocalyptica, Michael Buble, Areatha Franklin, James Morrison, Kate Bush, Eric Clapton, Ashanti, Missy Higgins, Coldplay (despite the fact that they have used other musicians work in conjuction with their own work but they have gained permission to use it anyway), Robbie Williams (oh no, and yeah, I fantasise about him too so there), John Butler Trio, Tracy Chapman, Jewel, Billy Joel, Elton John (earlier works), Nat King Cole, Bud Powell, Red Garland, Cab Calloway, Louis Armstrong, Herbie Hancock, Duke Elllington, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis and other Jazz greats, Nina Simone, Queen (I saw them live in concert in 1985 in Sydney), The Cranberries, Missy Higgins. I've also developed an appreciation for Metal music including Opeth, Slipknot, Disturbed, Korn, Metallica and a few others. The talent that many of those musicians demonstrate is absolutely amazing and I appreciate (and envy) the talent that they possess.

Movies:

The Green Mile, The Lady Killer, Wuthering Heights, Shine, Amastad, Good Will Hunting, Lord of the Rings, The Lion The Witch & The Wardrobe, Billy Elliot, Forest Gump, Requiem for a Dream, Nurse Betty

Television:

Black Books, Black Adder, Red Dwarf, The World Around Us, Focus, Dr Who, Stargate, CSI, The Chasers War On Everything, Spicks & Specks, Glasshouse, Insight, Enough Rope, Australian Story. I haven't really been watching much television of late...it's been pretty boring actually...I prefer to sit down and play the piano for a few hours!!!

Books:

Texas by James A Michener, Caesars Women by Colleen McCullough, The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings (I read them 25 years ago!), Dune, And Quietly Flows the Don, Edgar Alan Poe, Wuthering Heights, Chronicles of Narnia,

Heroes:

Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Dali Lama, Ghandi, Nelson Mandella, Einstein, Princess Dianna, my parents because they are still sane after all they've been through. (on that note, my father passed away recently and he was a rock in my life...he is missed terribly)QUIZ: What sort of Empath are you?
You scored as Artist. You are an Artist Empath, one who creates their own reality and infuses the realities of others with your energy & emotions. You are poetic and sensitive. You turn your feelings into creations and share them with the world. Everything you touch turns to song and is freed by the color of your eyes. Your spirit dances with the winds and paints delight in the evening sky. (from the "Book of Storms" by Jad Alexander at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Empaths/)
