EMPIRE IN RUINS is a newly started club in Stockholm, Sweden held in the cellar of the Jazz Pub, Stampen in Gamla Stan.
We have gigs about once a month - with bands from all over and all styles but we prefer to stay far away from the mainstream and concentrate on the good underground tunes.
EIR's original aim was to bring something to Stockholm, we find it hard for some bands to play in this town due to a lot of apathy and "in" social circles running the show, so we aim to break up all that shit by leading by example...ALL bands are welcome to get in touch, unlike all the cunts that we personally have had to deal with as a band we promise we will:
1 - Reply To EVERY Email sent to us from a band as soon as possible.
2 - Not insist on being sent a demo when we can hear your tunes online just as easy (although we do LIKE demos!)
3- Not charge you or make you sell tickets etc to play.
These we feel are simple principles that every venue/promoter should try and follow. Fuck you, we rule, so there! =)

PLEASE WRITE TO ME IN ENGLISH! (My Swedish is bad at its best!) if you write to me in Swedish I'll asume you havn't read this so therefore are not really interested in playing at the club, but just sending random emails out so therefore can't be that interested in playing.
- we love anything that falls under the banner of punk/rock/metal etc and are not at all closed minded but we do concentrate on good underground rock, we love punk, we love thrash we love garage rock/action rock, we love stoner, we love grindcore! We love it all - anything guitar-based and cool we fuckin' LOVE! but we HATE mainstream stuff and we avoid any major label wannabe rubbish! PLEASE no straight-forward heavy metal or power metal etc, no gubbe-rock, no chart-friendly indie etc and REALLY NO, NO, NO nu-glam rubbish unless you are fucking excellent! If your band name is "Slash Riot" or "Shotlee Rue" and you have big hair and names like "Nikki Lee Tommi Neil" or "Jizzee Kixx"... and you look like this...
you will get laughed at and teased by me. And then I will phone up all my friends and get them to look at your profile and they will laugh too, and in fact we'll all have a big laugh together for a few days so please.....get some originality and don't bandwagon.
We are curently only running the club once a month and are VERY backlogged for bands wanting to play so there may be a bit of a wait! We will TRY to reply to your mails though (as is the club policy) but even that might be a while and we cannot promise everyone a slot as much as we would like to or as soon as we would like to. We do proiritise for touring bands also.

We love to work with good underground bands and are always into trades etc, gig swops etc etc. We like to put out diy release CDs, tapes etc etc and are dedicated to just bringing the music we love!
