MARCUS GEE aka SHIFT.T - NAUGHTY PRODUCTIONS CREW.............
It’s the 21st century people.
The days of DJs commanding exorbitant fees for a three-hour set of seamlessly mixed, repetitive 4x4 beats played to a factory of dancing drones are slowly fading into self-induced boredom.
Those with the knowledge don’t want a ‘journey’ to nowhere. They want a mix of anything and everything – as long as it’s done with skill and personality to impress.
Ladies and Gentleman, B-boys and B-girls, I give you:
Marcus Gee aka.Shift-T
At home on two or four decks and with mixing and scratch skills to burn (as the proud owners of his mix CDs often do), Shift-T can rock a party with the best of them.
His sets take in all your favourite hip hop breaks, cut them up nicely with some bossa-styled rhythms and toasted Jamaican flavour before finally spicing the whole lot up with acapellas aplenty to fuck with the music you love and serve it up in a new way that’ll make you a convert before you’ve even left the dance floor. Oh yeah – then there’s the scratching!!!
The story begins about Ten years ago when his first exposure to dance style beats convinced him to buy decks and learn the finer art of mixing. After perfecting his blends with harder style beats for a couple of years he began to tire of its repetition and returned to his first love – hip hop.
With his technical skills on the mix down solid, he started scratching and building his crate with classic joints and head nodding anthems – the shit we’ve all come to know as ‘the real shit.’
His interest in more modern breaks came along a bit later and just meant a whole new genre of music to experiment with and slide into his selection. These days he’s still on point with sets built around a cut up body of hip hop and fleshed out with a variety of styles that move between funk, soul, rolling drum n bass and funky-ass breaks.
The last couple of years have seen Marcus Gee move into top gear after a couple years out of the scene. Hooking up with the Naughty Crew after inviting the boys to play at the club hosting his residency, the J Bar, Marcus's deck skills were quickly recognised and he was soon being asked to partner established DJ acts in Brisbane as a Mash-Up specialist.
The last few months have been large and seen Marcus find his groove in large style! He regularly appears as part of the crew at Naughty’s monthly nights at the Moon Bar in Brisbane and plays guest spots all over Australia as well as Overseas.
Every bio has to have the name-dropping of supports so this one won’t be any different, just make sure you check the players and recognise!!!!!!!!!
